I was taking some mountain back roads and went fast on a flat straight away. RPMs where not redlining. Engine noise went from chipper to having more attitude now.
Difficult to say which noise you're referring to but it does sound quite like quite a rattle. Take it to a good mechanic for a listen, she (or he) should be able to give you a good indication of whats the likely cause.
Mine makes a lot of noise, most of it is clutch rattle, goes away when I pull the clutch in been doing it for the last 20,000 mi. hope yours is not serious.....
@ K9 Wee
The sound seams to be coming from the place I'm recording to start near the cam. Also Exhaust holes to me sound more "basey" i could not find any leaks. @Wallydog & @ notacop
I am going to take it to atomicmotorcyclerepair near Portland, OR. [Was referred to by friend] @Old Codger
I will check what happens when i pull the clutch but from what I remember the sound was more prominent when I pulled the cluck or let go of the throttle.
Thanks so much for the help. Hopefully I can get my bike purring again will update.
Wow, that many replies and not one telling you to just get ear plugs as that is the normal reply to any mention of noises on the bikes. Sorry nothing constructive to add.
#1, exhaust leak. #2, loose cam carrier. Sounds like valve clatter but since these are shim in bucket valves, it can't be loose valves. How does it run? Good starting and good power? If all is good I still would look for an exhaust leak. Good luck
on second listen, does not sound like exhaust leak. Sounds like valve clicking. Broken valve spring? I'd strongly suggest pulling the valve cover on the appropriate cylinder. It should be easy to isolate which cylinder.
