Put in my pc-8 today from EB and while I was removing the plastics and fairings a small magnet fell out from somewhere. Any ideas where it might go? I can't figure it out . I thought maybe the fuel tank or something to do with the oil?
Way too generic.
Which plastics were you removing when it fell out?
Pic of magnet?
That said I'm unaware of any magnets on the bike.
Perhaps it's part of the EB unit?
I was removing the front right fairing/plastic. The piece that says Vstrom on the 2011 bike. It fell out when removing that piece. Don't have a pick yet, I'll try and take one when I get home today. Really I just want to know if it's important.
maybe it is from a previous owner (if you are not the original) ...a magnetic tank bag and it is part of that or something else a previous owner used. otherwise no, there should be magnets about the bike.
Here's a couple pics of the magnet. I guess it could be leftover from the previous owner. However; I doubt it was him as he never rode it. I got it with 600 miles on it. So far I haven't blown up, so perhaps it's not too important ?
I'd say someone was looking for something that they dropped/bolt, nut with a telescoping magnet, and the magnet came off and stuck to the bike, and they left it.

Oh snap! You're right! It was me! I was looking for a bolt that I dropped into the fairing a good 6 months back. Forgot that I dropped the magnet I was using. Thanks! I feel so stupid now [emoji1].
