I bought my adventure last weekend. One of the boxes was loose when it was at the dealership - the shop tightened it before I left. Now both boxes are just a little loose. I tried tightening the nuts on the inside of the rack, but the washer (?) between the rack and the box just spins. I don't have an owner's manual yet (they lost it - they're mailing me one), how do I tighten up the boxes to the rack?
thanks |

Seems to me you need some Loctite or other thread lock on the bits and pieces if they're coming undone so quickly. I have the Touratech Zega panniers so can't give any advice on what needs tightening up on your panniers, sorry.

If you're referring to where the boxes slide on to the racks...
I had occasional rattles as well. Didn't seem to me any bolts needed tightening. So, I wrapped a small piece of electrical tape inside and around the groove on each of those round things. They don't rattle anymore.

Small rubber o-rings from an auto shop will stop the rattling too and give you that snug feeling.

That's what the tapes is for that should have come in the saddlebags. Seems Suzuki knew they were prone to rattling.

I don't exactly what my dealer did but the service writer said it was a minor adjustment and the bags were tight without the use of tape or O rings.

It's the lock latches on the rack on mine that rattled. I unlocked and removed the bag then loosened the bolts that hold the latch to the rack slid them slightly forward and tried again. It may take a couple attempts but the noise should go away.

Make sure you secure the locks. Those small c clips don't always hold. Some extra glue should be used. There are threads on here about people losing their locks due to vibrations.
