Finally got through the 500 mile break-in period! It'll be nice to rev past 5,000 rpms again.

Over the past two weekends, I installed the SVRacingParts.com frame sliders, swingarm spools, OEM undercowling, OEM tank pad, OEM hand guards, Givi Maxia 3 top case and adapter plate, and RAM mounts for my POV cameras. I also got a wiring harness for the brake/tail/signal lights from EasternBeaver.com so I could connect the Maxia 3 brake lights using plugs instead of splicing or using posi-taps. All I have left for now is to install some orange rim stripes I have ordered from GLSigns.com. I'm hoping the color is remotely close to the Metallic Fox Orange.

I did a blog like this for my Ninja 650R, partially to document what I did to it, and partially to share info with the community since there wasn't a lot of documentation for the frame sliders I installed at that time. Since there's more available accessory info for the V-Strom, most of this is for my own benefit, but if it helps someone out there, then so much the better.

I just finished two more posts about installing the OEM hand guards and adding an Eastern Beaver wiring harness to connect the Givi Maxia 3's brake lights. It's a more anal-retentive method than using wire nuts or posi-taps for you fellow OCDs out there. I'll have a third post up shortly about my RAM mounts for my Drift POV cameras and hopefully a sample video if it's done uploading by then.

I'm glad I could help. I ordered everything from Oneida via their website the night before Superstorm Sandy hit New York, and they still managed to get it shipped out the next business day. You shouldn't have any trouble getting stuff quickly from them unless the item is out of stock.

Nice blog, Operator! I think you just convinced me to install frame sliders. I just don't like the look of the crash bars. My off road adventures mirror yours. An occasional fire road or gravel drive will be about it for me.

Just completed an installation of frame & swingarm sliders from SVRacingparts, and the project was a cinch with Operator7G's blog. Don't know what the man does for a living, but he could do real well as a technical writer.
