I wouldn't mind LED's but the output of the LED lighting doesnt seem to match anything that incandescent puts out.

So what is everyone else running?

The lights need to be mounted to the forks so they turn with the handlebar and not fixed like many others have with the aux bar that seems to be found a lot.

This is a good question. This question sits on the frontal lobe of my withered brain daily. Knowing the limited electrical output of the bikes charging system I would think Led's are the only safe option. Anybody put Aux. lights in yet?

Denali from TW is not cheap but on the other hand they are cheap compared to Clear Water lights.

Depends on which ones you get. You can run a pair of 55watt halogen or HID Xenon, but that's gonna suck up all your extra watts.

I have these Catz 55 watt lights that I removed from my BMW and relocated to the Strom. We bought them as a group off Ebay for about $120 a set and what is really cool is there are several different bulbs you can run in these, from white, to white/yellow, amber(shown), purpleish and some others. The bulbs are interchangeable.

On my old bike I had two sets, an upper set in yellow/white for night time lighting and the lower in amber for daytime running lights. (Shown below)

I have these mounted on the Wee to the forks where the reflectors used to be. Seemed like a perfect spot, but it was tricky finding M5 bolts in a 50mm length, I had to special order those and some spacers for the spaces in between.

I don't have them wired up yet as I'm waiting to get an Eastern Beaver PC8 installed under the seat first, and that is awaiting funds to magically appear in my bank account....

I know they suck up a lot of precious watts, but until I have a bunch of other stuff running, I'm not too concerned about it.





As they looked on my BMW, these things are great traffic stoppers, people seem to really notice them. I've had several comments from other riders that they were very noticeable, but not too obnoxious or blinding. That's another set under the headlight (not lit) with the white/yellow bulbs.

The question is whether you want conspicuity lights so others can see you better, or real driving lights so you can see the road better.

LEDs make OK conspicuity lights, and take little electrical power.

Real driving lights take a fair bit of the limited excess electrical output of our stroms, and the headlights are so good that few feel that they need more light output.

Avoid the unmanageable.

My old CS had 400w alternator which is the same a the storm and managed it. Hopefully the storm can do the same but the additional 55w from the headlight might be pushing it.

They will have to be working lights but bad weather riding like this evening.

I live in deer country and do alot of night time riding. I have a set of Clear Water Krista on my RT and love them but at $600.00+ don't think I'm going to put them on the Wee.

Do you know how the Denali D2D compare to the Krista in brightness and distance?

I too think LED's are the answer with their lower power consumption. But, most are expensive. I bought mine more to increase visibility to oncoming traffic but found I really like the light they put out, especially when running high beams. The very white light brings out the road much better than the stock candles. (btw, I do think the Gen I Wee had better lighting due to the bigger reflectors ). I bought a set of the SW Motech auxilliary light mounts and the lights were bought at PepBoys for $50 for both. I used my own wiring/switching. I should post a pic with the lights on, the LED's are very white and the stock lights look yellow. This actually makes the bike stand out more I think as the lights are not that far apart from each other.
