Default Brake line extension

So why can you not just get a 2 or 3 inch extention that bolts together at the MC. /Handbar?
Why do I need to buy the 3 brake lines?

Maybe you can. Research it. The vendors here are selling stuff.

SVRacingParts.com

Confirm with Blair at svracingparts.com that this is correct for the L2.

I thought about doing this.

I decided that, if I was going to void my ABS warranty, I was going to do it in a manner likely acceptable to my insurance company. I was not going to give an accident investigator something to photograph and then have to defend myself against, in court.

I've never seen the configuration you've described, which would be a "banjo-to-banjo" interface.

As far as I know, no one does this, but I really dont know why. I bought a custom brake line with +3 in. extension (one line) from "sales-support-2@galferusa.com" (info in another thread on this site). I have not received it yet for installation.

I bought the set from Blair, according to him and Galfer it's a must.
I too had questioned this, I got an answer from the brake experts. It was a little pain in the rear, but wife is happy with the GenMar up&back since I installed the new lines. Now she rides longer because she sits up-right.

Default Galfer Extended Brake line - "Top" Line A

I sent email to Galfer:

Quote:

Please confirm that D772-3 (Line-A only) is the "top line" for a:

2012 Suzuki DL650 V strom, with ABS
...at OEM length.

That is, +3" is +3 inch longer than OEM length (OEM + 3 inch).

One more detail that you should positively confirm: The 2007-2011
Suzuki DL650 with ABS is different, and likely a different part
number.

I'm ordering for the 2012 ABS model year, and it's different from
previous ABS model years.

It's a different length, and there may be one other difference: It has
a "manifold block" at one end of tis line. That is, they're not "banjo
bolts" at both ends, but only at one end.

What I'm ordering is essentially the same brake line you folks make
for one brake line of the SV Racing 3-line kit (for the 2012 Suzuki V
Strom ABS), but with one more inch to extend that "top line" further.
The one you make for them is "OEM + 2 inch", and I'm ordering "OEM + 3
inch".

...and they confirmed all this information for me, and then delivered it.

The extended brake line looks correct, and all parts appear to be there in the package.

About $60 delivered.

I'd contacted Blair back in February and he replied they were just having kits made up and Blair quoted $269.95 plus $10 shipping with the Stromtrooper discount. explained the differences between the 2012 and prior years.

He explained that instead of being just a brake line, it is the "Full SS Line Kit" which I understood was the top brake line and the two brake lines from the manifold the calipers and the manifold connection.

$60 is a heck of lot less. Have they figured out how to reduce the assembly required somehow?
