Probably the easiest upgrade there is. Maybe I'm paranoid but the thought of some yahoo tossing sand down the oil filler cap as a $3k joke didn't feel funny to me, so this seemed a worthwhile investment.
Touratech cap The funny part came when this five pound box arrived. They included a huge catalog of all sorts of wonderful parts and no prices. Awesome!

I got one from someone else, just a last minute purchase along with other stuff from the US. Works fine, and quite reassuring if the bike is spending the night in the car park of a country hotel. Pete |

Sounds a little like having a safe in your house... a determined person will get you, but at least this kind of thing slows them down, and deters all but the most evil. I'll pick one up, and then make the right hex key a permanent part of my on-board kit - along with a can of tire fixing foam (which I was able to use to fill a friend's non-Strom tire in the middle of nowhere last week).

And, yeah, I feel your pain there, most of the spares I carry have been used in anger on other people's bikes. Pete |

Now you just need to come up with a way to stop them from pushing your bike over and setting it on fire.

There "was" a member here (or on ADV, I forget) selling Hex-head oil caps for $5, I think........I bought one and installed it. Not "recessed hole" hex, but a hex bolt head on top. Yes, it only takes a cresent wrench to open it, but most douchbags roaming around in a parking lot don't happen to carry wrenches in their pockets. I like the extra ounce of security.......for $5.
