Default Newbie just joined

I have been trying to register for about 2 weeks so I can post, finally tried Google Chrome and it let me complete the registration process.
I also had a challenge with installing the right hand SW Motech bracket, I just used a bit a of force on the front connector to make it line up.
I also did not like the kit supplied to lenghten the wires on the turn signals, so I cut them and added a piece of wire and soldered them. I used heat shrink to make it nice and tidy.
I noticed that I could make a little channel in the back of the bracket with a dremel tool and reroute the wire under the bracket and back into the existing hole, made for a much tidier install, this may work without extending the wires but I'd already completed the splice.
I also installed the center Stand, attached 1 spring at a time and was easier than expected, the SW motech bash plate was more of a challenge as the bottom rear holes did not line up without using a lever to move it into place.
Just got to conenct up my Oxford heated grips and I'm almost done.
Cheers.

Hi guys.

I was directed to this thread two days ago and fortunately, yesterday we did an install of side carriers on a 2012 DL650 for a local guy. Armed with your descriptions we were able to identify a small fix to address the slight misalignment. We have already informed SW-MOTECH of what needs to be adjusted in the kit and are working on a solution (free) to send to those who already purchased the side racks. It will take a few days to organize the solution. More to follow.

Kev,

Thanks man. I am glad Im not crazy! All it requires is a small spacer to make it perfect. Will you guys automatically send out the new part? Also, it looks like the right box sits a little higher than the left due to the space constraints. Hopefully this small adjustment will fix that as well. I know I am anal, but the devil is in the details.....

Very handsome boxes. Just how wide are they outside to outside?
Just think of all the travel destination stickers you could get on those things!

Thanks! You know I am out of town right now and dont have access to the bike. They are really wide though! I think some folks have posted somewhere around 40 inches (approx 101/102cm give or take). I can measure when I get home. They will definitely come off in the winter time when I have to store 2 bikes and a van in the garage. They are quick release though so no problem....

Hello, Has anyone heard back from Twisted Throttle regarding the adapter fix for the SW Motech Side Racks or has anyone received one?

I hope SW Motech can re-engineer the right hand mounting bracket for the DL650 2012, mine is a almost an inch higher than the left and the box sits on an angle. I had originally made it fit by leaving the brackets loose and then using a bit of forced to get them to lock in place, and tightened everything up once in place.
I put the bike on the centre stand on a level floor, removed both Trax side boxes and measured from the floor to the center of the front top connector, left side 31 1/4" Right side 32 1/8" I would say that is unacceptable and I think SW Motech should replace the right hand rack.
The boxes look very unbalanced and it really is disappointing to have chosen a good quality company and get poor workmanship, even carpenters framing a house are more accurate than that.
I bought them from my Suzuki dealer who ordered from Twisted Throttle.

Any one else have these same issue?

i had the same issue with mine. i tried using a center punch to get mine to line up and i couldnt get it to work. i actually had to bend (beat into submission really) the front left bracket that mounts to the primary cover so i could get everything to line up...
