That last pic is a good one. I have my bike right here and I noticed that the Y pipe is much straighter on the "correct" pipe compared to my 2011 version. The old one curves in much more, but we will see. The old instructions say to mount the bracket on the INSIDE of the frame, while I initially put it on the OUTSIDE and someone said it was wrong. I also noticed TAZ forgot the bumper on the pipe for the centerstand. Where did that go?

I believe the front 2 pipes are the same and the rear pipe and canister is redesigned...glad you can see a difference since I did not have an old version to compare it to DT ....I guess like most of us we just look at the pictures.. lol..read post # 185 about the bumper... . So that extra welded piece for the bumper doesn't need to be there? I think it's looks ugly and I may grind it off it's not needed.
I noticed the stocker didn't have a bumper too.

The 2 front pipes were labeled 04-11 so that is why I am assuming they are the same as previous years and why the bracket for the bumper is there. ...the rear pipe and canister were labeled 2012 so that is probably all that needed redesign....
I have a centerstand and the bumper is on the opposite side which is actually better because any exhaust changes will not have to worry about the centerstand bumper.... Last edited by TAZ650; 11-16-2012 at 01:24 PM. |

I recieved my Akra this week for my 2012. As Taz has already said they bolt up really easily, the best system I have fitted to any bike I have owned. Very. very well designed. Every mounting point, clamp and fixing is EXACTLY where it needs to be, no bending, pushing, head scratching with this system, pure quality. I also went for the carbon and the sound is amazing. Just a deep v twin rumble and a lovely crackle on the throttle. I am very happy with this pipe.
One other thing to mention is SV Racing, Blair in particular. What an awesome company to deal with. Blair is a really top bloke. Nothing was too much trouble (I'm in Australia) and was helped with postage, delivery schedules and Blair even e-mailed me to tell me that the post office had tried to deliver it to me, before the post office told me! E mails were answered straight away and nothing was too much trouble. I would reccomend Blair to anyone without hesitation. He is a Stromtrooper first and a salesman second. If you need anything use them, you'll not be disappointed |

Will the new 2012 version interfere with the Adventure models side case rack?

Not sure about the adventure rack but the rear frame of the Givi rack touched the can but there is enough flexibility in the system to move the can up and then tighten the bolts. Elongated one bracket to do this.

Today I visited my dealer to swap the old exhaust with the new version, and had a chance to compare them.
Only the Y piece that connects the header pieces with the muffler have been changed. Besides that a 8mm spacer have been added to the mounting kit. The spacer goes on the inside of the carbon muffler clamp to move the rear of the muffler 8mm out. As opposed to the mounting instructions for the pre 2012, the instructions now shows that the flange on the Y piece mounts outside the frame rail - this moves the front of the muffler 30mm out. Is the titanium version harder to maintain/keep clean then the carbon? Is the carbon version still steel underneath just with a carbon top layer? Judging by the two carbon vertical strips on the titanium version, it looks like the carbon version is just a basic layer on top.
