04' 650, . This motorcycle runs perfect at 75,000 . I have replaced nothing except normal wear items! Not even a TB sync! I like showing friends how i can walk up to it after its been sitting a few days abd just "touch" the starrer button and it fires up and idles perfectly, with no smoke or slightest trace of smoke. Im proud of this bike and how its holding up. Absolutely zero smoke at srart up or when bouncing off limiter....it uasnt began to start wearing out it seemss. 3/4 of all my riding is gravel/dirt roads too. I run Mobil Del-Vac 1300 in all my bikes and diesel trucks. I put over 100k on a 03' Yamaha Fz1 using the same oil....ive owned 26 bikes and this is hands down the best bike ive owned.

That's good to know. Mine has just clicked over 19000k. So if mine holds up as good as yours I will be more that happy. And the type of riding I do I can't see why it won't.

At what rpm does the rev limiter cut in?
I can't bring myself to find out on my own bike. Norm |

It cuts in at red line on the tach.

Another testimony of the reliability of this fine MC design. Hopefully it will continue to outshine many less ideal models and remain a true de facto adventure touring bike. My'07 is still so silly new due to low miles it's not funny - this year will be different...

OP, I know your feeling. I was riding with a BMW GS lately and he went on and on about how many miles he had. His was on a 2008 and has 50,000 miles on it. I smiled and said he was a slacker. Flicked the instruments on to show him a cheap (maybe economical is a better word) 2007 Suzuki Vee with 80,000 miles on the clock.
His had some issues..few electrical gremlins and typical BMW thirst for oil. Mine just need gas very often.

Some of that is needle bounce. The bottom line is the revs are limited so they won't do damage. It's a red zone nowadays more than a red line. The service manual says the fuel injectors stop operation when engine rpm reaches rev. limit rpm. Nothing else is said about it.

looking at an 08 650 with 63,000 kms. the bike is in good condition so it would seem this many kilometers would leave plenty of life?
