If a DL650 has a tired engine, is it feasible to swap it for a complete unit from an SV650? I know it will physically bolt in, but are things like electrical connections and throttle bodies compatible?

Yes, but AFAIK, you need throttle bodies, wiring loom and ECU to make it easy.
