Are the magnets storng enough to keep it in place and are they positioned in the correct place to grab the tank properly?

I started with a Cortech Super Mini magnetic tank bag. I have now switched to the new Bags-Connection Engage EVO quick-lock tank bag that uses the B-C gas cap ring to mount and secure it. The bag is a tad small but has worked fine so far and I really like the mounting (and dismounting) system.
I also got the map case for mounting on top. Which has worked well too, though it is not waterproof. Probably why the Engage bag comes with a waterproof cover that will cover the map case too.

I have used a GEARS very inexpensive tank bag for 5+ years it holds on fine but don't over stuff it as the zippers are not good it is OK for daily commuter travel and is only water proof if the cover is on but is OK for the job. It holds on fine. I don't think any tank bag is going to fall off and if there is a concern any observant rider will or should see the problem long before it becomes a big problem

I have the Oxford 1st time tank bag (ironically it is my first tank bag). It has magnetic fitting and a large see through pouch for a map. What I though was really nice was that I could work on my touch screen HTC through the pouch. It has a 18L capacity which is not much but it works well for storing gloves, keys, maps, sunglasses and wallets. It also has a see through rain cover. See the link below:
