So DL650A is ABS equipped and DL650 is not? When I asked a CL seller if his bike had ABS, his response was "No, it's a DL650!". Yet I've seen other bikes with ABS advertised as a DL650. Is the 'A' relating to anything else the bike might be equipped with too?

I guess it's best just to ask case by case and take the thump over the head if I raise someone's ire.

The "A" indicates that it has ABS.

Always ask, but verify. ABS bikes have the ABS decal on the front fender, the ABS speed sensing rings on the hubs, and the ABS indicator on the speedometer face, as well as DL650A on the VIN sticker. ABS became optional on the 2007 650s.

I'll definitely rely on my own eyes to verify. Curiously, there is a 2011 DL650 (non-ABS) I was looking at that has the sensor ring on the front hub. From my automotive background I know sometimes to be cost effective the manufacturer offers one hub with a sensor ring that just isn't used in non-ABS applications. Suzuki's parts diagrams do show separate rings though.

All 2011 DL650s are ABS (hence DL650A).

So even if it says only DL650 without the 'A' on the tail cover and there's no 'ABS' on the front fender it is still an ABS model? Maybe this seller really doesn't know what he has.

The only place to look is on the title, not the front fender or either wheel hub. If the title calls it a DL650A it's ABS, if no A, not.

My '08 ABS has no sticker on the front fender because it's painted to match the rest of the bodywork.

The sensor rings on the wheel hubs will be there regardless of cosmetic changes.
