That's what I thought I read in some heated grip threads...which would mean no cutting, no gluing, no mess, no muss, no dishpan hands. Or did I misinterpret?
A thousand thanks, Todd

Some people have put them over stock grips and under grip puppies.

Oxford "Hot Hands" (Oxford Hothands Essential Heated Overgrips - V-Strom DL650, '04-'11 - Suzuki - Shop by Bike - TwistedThrottle.com) also mount over the existing grips and can easily be taken off when you don't need them.

Got a suggested Symtec part number for the ones that fit over the grips? I'm a bit confused (as usual
) because when I looked them up, I found ones for ATVs where they say they are not for motorcycle use, and found motorcycle ones that fit under the grips.

Both are designed to fit under the grips. ATVs don't have handlebar throttles so both sides heat the same. Motorcycle heaters put more heat into the clutch side grips because the bars draw heat away while the throttle tubes insulate the heaters from the bars. If the heaters are applied over the stock grips, ATV heaters are best because both sides are insulated from the bars and you want equal heat. That's also why you want controllers on the heaters if running over the stock grips or they'll get too hot.

I just installed symtec grip warmers under grip puppies. the leads route fwd from the puppies fine, no holes or slots needed. the low setting is good at 0C. the high switch is too hot. I will add a resistor to reduce power to the heaters. the symtec resistance is ~ 10.5 ohm on low and 7 ohm on high so a 5 ohm resistor may be the first try. I drilled a 13/16 hole in the flat part of the plastic tank faring with a unibit and snapped the switch in. total time 2 hrs. I think they are great.
