I have a set. They go on and off quickly. However they leak too much air. The hand guard size is too tall. I should have gotten the regular size. In hind site I and stitch so I should have gotten some ATV muffs and modified them.

Yes, the Hippo Hands are a little pricey, and they are not pretty, but I would buy them again. I wear summer gloves year round (also using grip heaters).

I have the Hippo hands that fit over the hand guards. The coldest weather I ride in is around -1 or -2 degrees Celcius (just below freezing). For some reason which I am unable to ascertain, they did not help at all. I even used foam to fill the gaps where they wrap around the handlebars. Unless the cold air is coming up through the same hole my hands enter the muffs then I just cannot explain why they were not effective. I didnt care that they look ridiculous, I just wanted the pain to stop.

Heated grips were likewise useless. Kept the palms and inside of my fingers warm, which are exactly the areas that did not need warming. My finger tips and the end of my thumb remained painfully cold.

I ended up just riding to my local dealership and asking them for the warmest most insulated winter gloves they had, regardless of price. I also bought some glove liners which were also useless.

The only thing I haven't tried are heated gloves. If they don't work then I officially give up.

Heated Gloves Work ! I planned a trip to Colorado a number of years ago. 18 of us went. Most of the others were friends from Texas and did this ride every year. They all had Gerbings heated gear. It was my first experience with heated gear , and I use mostly just the jacket to this day. I had the jacket and gloves on one circuit of the dual thermostat and pants and socks on the other. At 12000 feet up on Independence Pass, I was toasty and warm. The beauty of this gear is that it's thin enough that when you change altitude rapidly , you just turn it down or off, and you don't have to stop and remove it. The first generation gloves were bulky but they've come along way since then. If I remember correctly , they have a lifetime guarantee.

I put my ATV muffs on my 09 wee yesterday , for a group ride in temps @ 2 deg c .
I had purchased them years ago from Royal Distributing for 20 bucks , out of desperation while on a cold ride on my drz400 . I too hate the frozen fingertip syndrome .
I melted the same hole for the mirror stem as another posted , but have yet to find something to seal it ( curtain grommets - brilliant )
Pro's - hands were warm throughout the ride , had to turn the grip heaters down to 40 % , wore light gloves . An occasional whiff of cold would enter the mitt , but other times a wave of warmth would wash up my wrist and forearm .
Con's - awkward to walk the bike around the garage since one can't just grab the handlebar and push /pull , difficulty in activating signals and switches , as they are in the tight " neck " of the mitt - everytime I inserted my left hand into the mitt , the horn would beep . Turn signals took a real effort to activate and cancel . On one occasion the cord from my right grip heater contacted the kill switch , causing the motor to die inexplicably in traffic . Since that area is invisible , and inaccessible without removing the mitt , which would require removing the mirror , it took a few moments to figure out .
I'm going to keep them on the bike and ride again today !

I bought Venture heated gloves last season, and ride in temps down to 10-20f at times. they're nice because they use little rechargeable batteries, so there is no messing with wires or your battery. I can use them from bike to bike (or bicycle), and take them to a football game. worth checking out.

I invested in the Gerbings heated jacket liner and gloves. Not cheap but it makes a huge difference. Can ride in very low temps without getting cold at all.

Picked up a pair of ATV mitts from Rocky Mountain ATV. Not as large as Hippo Hands but able to ride comfortably in low 30's with my regular riding gloves. Think they were approx $25. Good luck with your search.
