Mt Wee is now beyond the point where it needs to have the coolant hoses replaced. I have googled silicone hose kits to no avail. I found a site that offers universal hoses but there are 2 issues with this. First, I don't know my hose I.D. size. Secondly, I'm not sure if I can make their generic bends work without causing a kink. Are you Wee owners using OEM hoses or have you found better hoses?

I'm traveling and don't have access to my manual. Is there an interval that the factory recommends replacement? I ask because I sold my k75s after 17 years without replacing any coolant hoses. In any case if it were me I would go OEM.

The manual says four years, but that's nuts.

Has anyone ever reported a hose failure or even a hose getting soft or beginning to delaminate? I can't recall any.

I'm not aware of anyone experiencing premature hose failures, but that may be cuz it's rare. And yes, I thought 4 years per the manual was a bit over the top. However, since my bike is approaching 8 years old, I thought it might be cheap insurance to go ahead and install new hoses to be done with it and have some peace of mind. Since I am about to go thru the bike maintenance wise, along with many new parts, I thought it would be a good time to change hoses.

My 04 Wee has the original hose and they still look good and feel supple. It's got 46K miles on it.
My 01 4 Runner has 190K miles and the hoses are still original and don't appear to need replacing. Works fine, lasts a long time. |

Stick with Suzuki hoses if inspection indicates a need for replacement. They have the proper bends. For some reason, the thread title has been a real attraction to spammers.

My hoses were sound, but I replaced them and the seals which are used to attach them to the motor, when I noticed a leak in there.
The seals were pretty much liquified. I upgraded the clamps while I was at it. It can be done without removing anything. A concern was losing the recessed seal shrapnel into the motor, but it had to be done as I had lost integrity of the coolant system which could lead to motor damage. I havent seen or smelled lost coolant since I replaced the seals and the bike has seemed to run cooler- 2 bars on cool days
