Default Take the Prudhoe tour

I was lucky enough to be able to take the time recently to drive up to Prudhoe Bay, AK. It was great meeting other riders on the Dalton highway, and riding with them. Some riders got up there and turned around and rode straight back. I just wanted to say that both the hotel stay (I stayed at the Prudhoe Bay Hotel), and the oil field tour are well worth it.

So my advise is that if you spend the time/money to ride all the way up to Prudhoe you won't regret spending a night there and taking the tour. I'm glad I did.

My trip is scheduled for 2014. Would love to hear more about it and see some pics. Congrats on making the trip!

Here's my trip blog. Entries were mostly composed on my iPhone so they are short. It was mostly done for friends & family so that they could know that I was still alive.

We did our tour with Deadhorse Camp. It was $30. Deadhorse is about 2 miles south outside of Prudhoe Bay. We stayed at the Prudhoe Bay Hotel which I would recommend before Deadhorse Camp. It has a big (and excellent) cafeteria open 24/7 - the price of which is included with the hotel stay. Our rooms were $110/person/night (for a semi-private 2-man room), or $125 for a private room. Deadhorse Camp is $200/night for a 2-man room, but you have to pay for your food. There's a new hotel (The Aurora). The tour guide wasn't sure if it was only for oil field workers, or if "civilians" could stay there. He said it was $275/night!

BTW I didn't see that many V-Strom's on the Dalton highway

Enjoyed the ride report on your blog, and glad you had a good time up here in my home state! For what it's worth, this has been the coldest July on record (or close to, anyway); sorry we didn't have nicer weather to offer you
