Cemoto, you have to travel farther north then what you did. Try about three hours north of Portland. You will find this: Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor Maine

Nice photos. I visited the Portland Lighthouse once, but was just passing through toward the south. That Acadia N.P. looks pretty nice too.

We loaded my Strom in the van and took it up this trip for the first time (notice no windshield). I bribed her by telling her if we took the van she could bring as much crap as she wanted. She is famous for bringing three suitcases for an overnight stay one time. Cute and adorable but high maintenance. So this was an indoctrination for her. She did OK. I'll get there in the next few years though. You are right, and you're really rubbing it in . . . . BTW, that place downtown that is supposedly so famous for blueberry pancakes is not all that great, I make better ones that they do. Best Regards and thanks for all the informative posts.... . . .

The pancakes and muffins have really gone downhill the past several years while the prices have climbed the mountain.
I'd rather have breakfast at 2 Cats these days.

I rode up to Maine from NJ in May. Definitely try to get up to Acadia and points north. Solo trip - the GF doesn't ride.
A few shots from that trip. The Bucksport Bridge, on top of Cadillac Mtn. and by the beach at Seawall in Acadia. Nice to meet up with Black Lab too.

About a month ago, in June we had this ride:
NYC - Kittery, NH - Bar Harbor, ME (Acadia Park, etc) - St.Hohn, BC, Canada - Rockwell Hope, BC, Canada (Bay Fundu, tides, etc) - Halifax, NS, Canada - Cabot Trail, NS, Canada - New Glazgow, NS, Canada - Lubec, ME - Kittery, NH - NYC. 8 days, 2,600 miles. Not a single rain, sunny, 70-75. A ride of a lifetime. Will try to do it again next year. https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=N...mra=ls&t=m&z=5 Last edited by pa_max; 07-21-2012 at 10:43 AM. |
