I use BT020's, you have to be a heck of a rider to out ride the 20's and they get good mileage. Not good off road though.

I'm running an Avon Venom front and a ME880 rear. I'm right to the edge on the front tire and nothing has dragged on my lowered bike. The Venom is even solid in heavy rain Wish I could get a matching rear

I'd have to argue that with you. I'm by no means a "heck of a rider". But I do ride track days with decent times.

When it comes to mileage, they're great. But they can be pushed past there limits quickly.

I had an 020 rear on my Bandit and it didn't seem to grip all that well. Felt pretty wooden and like it never warmed up.

I don't use 020's for the track either, use 014's most of the time but then I don't use a wee strom either. On the street if your smooth it takes a lot to over ride them, but tires are like oil and everybody has got there own opinion, I can respect that. I am going to put Avon 45/46 on the k7 before I even take delivery in Oct. because I think they are better in the wet. My opinion and I'm sticking to it.

I've been extremely impressed with the Trailwings on the pavement. On pavement at least, their poor reputation is completely undeserved.

I'm going to try Anakees next. But if I was doing strictly pavement, I'd recommend the Pilot Roads.

Hey mate I made a post about tyres a while back. this is what I wrote about the trailwings and the Scorpion MT90's that I replaced them with

http://stromtrooper.com/forum/viewto...159&highlight=

Stock Trailwings at 18,000 Km

Hey all

I am now at 18,000 KM, my rear hoop is past its used by date and the front is pretty much due as well.

Text Cropped

To be honest I cant relly fault the stock trailwings, I have pushed the pretty hard in all weather conditions in twisties (got the pegs on the blacktop) on straights and in the dirt.

Even at 18,000 KM with pretty much no tread on the rear (yes I know I am a naughty boy riding with very little tread) I cant make the rear loose traction in the wet whilst riding (well I could if I tried)

I have only ever lost grip on the rear when I engine brake into corners (but thats on purpose) and I am considering just replacing them with a new set

Never the less I would like your opinions on the subject as I ABSO****INGLUTELY Love twisties and will push the my baby strom pretty hard on mountain corners.

Text Cropped

Thanks
Mussie

SCORPION MT 90's At around 200 Kms Use

Hey everyone

On friday I fitted a set of Pirelli SCORPION MT 90's. They were $23 more than the trailwings....

So far, I have only done a couple of hundred K's but they feel great, wish I had a new set of trailwings to compare em to....

The rear appears to slid a lot easier under breaking, but for somereason it feels a lot more controlable than the trailwings.....

I will update this thread as I put more K's on em

SCORPION MT 90's At around 2200 Kms Use

Hey all, got a couple of thousand on the tires now (2200km I think) and I have to say that other than the road noise (see below) they are FARKING awsome...

Did a couple of hundred K's of dirt tracks (some surface mud some shallow sand, some rocks) and had no problems

I have total confidence when cornering and SO FAR they have been very good in the wet.

My only gripe is that at 100Km and above I am hearing some substantial noise from the road, I thought it might be the motor or gearbox but I only occours above 100 K. and changing gears (RPM) does not seam to affect the sound.

It sounds like the sort of noise you would expect from a turbine.... It's most notable when riding past barriers such as the cement barriers that they have in the middle of some freeways or around road works.... and to be frank, when I am tired (after night shift) It does tend to piss me off...

And to be honest there is not to much difference between the trailwings and the SCORPION's I just feel safer Pirelli's but If I cant figure out someway to overcome the road noise I may just swich back to Trailwings as they were nice and quiet....

Stay Safe

I have the Pilot Roads front and rear and like them a lot. I only have 1200 miles on them so have no idea how they wear but I believe they are the stickiest tires for the Strom, wet or dry, since our choices are limited by size.

There is a German test chart on several Strom tires and the PR's were rated best for wet and dry traction in that test.

I *did* manage to make the trailwings break grip - several times and never when I expected it. I didn't get NEAR wearing them out - I changed them at less than half worn - my nerves couldn't handle it any more.

Anakee's on the other hand stick like glue and I have a lot of confidence in them.

Sorry but I don't think there's one right answer here, It'll depend on riding style, I like a deep profile tyre that tips the bike into turns quickly and I tend to brake late and turn hard rather than using the sort of smooth lines a sports bike rider would use.

Cheers
Pete
