My 2007 has never been on tender. I'm in NYC so we got some tough winters. Still starts like a champ and gives no signs of problems. I always kept it garaged.

2008 in severe heat and icy cold stored for months never failed me. Never had it on a tender either. In cold, I would just start and let it idle for 15 minutes every few weeks.

I heard when its cold its better to put on a tender rather than letting it idle.

Not sure if there is a thread for that already.
Can you guys please recommend a reliable and good battery tender?
Thanks!

I use a Battery Tender Junior (Battery Tender - Home of the Battery Tender Jr. - Batterytender.com). Runs about $25-40, depending on where you buy it.

2006 with 25K and I put in my 3rd battery in the Fall just before riding season ended. Original went 2 years, Walmart replacement went 2 years also. I bought a Westco this time as one of theirs has lasted 8 years so far in my Goldwing.

The bike usually sits idle for 3 month during our winters but is ridden almost daily to work the rest of the year. I put the charger on it about once a month to freshen it back up.

I bought and received and will be installing soon one of the Mosfet R/R that have been talked about on this forum.

Default battery

Motorcycle batteries have gotten much better in the past 10 or so years. Used to be they'd last 3 years max., now days 5 years is more common. For some odd reason the replacements don't last as long, even if the same exact battery is used. Best to keep the original if you can.

With over 145,000 km (90,000 miles) on my 2006 DL650 I'm on my third battery. One battery was completely my fault as I went for a week forgetting to turn off the ignition several times. At the end of that week I needed a battery. Usually the battery was flat enough that I had to wait a minute or two for it to recuperate and then I could bump it.

I forget why the other battery was needed but it was about two years into onwership. I do use a tender on it so it wasn't a case of lack of care.

Just for my own piece of mind (so I don't get stuck somewhere), I usually replace a motorcycle battery every 2 years or so - but that's been a conventional battery. Since my Wee came with a Yuasa sealed maintenance-free battery, I was wondering if the lifespan for these batteries is significantly longer. What have you other owners been experiencing?

09 Wee. Battery dead after 9700 miles.
