Default Changes for '07

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has a list of the differences between the '06 and '07 DL650. I'm aware of the new heads and catalyst, but just wondering what else has changed. Just bought one last week and am slowly realizing not all parts/accessories are interchangable. They don't even have OEM handguards for them in their catalog for '07.

Been lurking here for a year or so and finally took the plunge. Love that bike! Thanks for all the good advice and input, didn't even have to drive it, just knew it was the one. Nice having your choices confirmed, isn't it?

First off.

OEM HANDGUARDS FROM PREVIOUS YEARS WORK WITH THE 07 WITH NO MODIFICATION REQUIRED!

Sorry for yelling but there are so many threads on this subject that it's worth getting the message across once and for all (I wish).

The 07 has a 15mm longer swingarm.
ABS is optional in some locations.
The electrical switches on the handlebars are neater.
There are rubber boot protectors on the outside of the swingarm pivot.
You know about the engine.
That's about it.

I have heard that much more of the (07) bike is under software control so that it is difficult to do a throttle body sync in your own garage.

Horn button has changed. I keep hitting it accidentally.
No idle adjustment screw.
Throttle and clutch cable adjusters are black (nylon?).
Yeah, you need a $600 tool to do the TBS.

Many people do have to mod the hand guards to get them on an 07. And I'm not going to shout about it. I had to chop them up and two other 07's that I have seen since have done the same thing. BTW the heated grips will fit an 07 with a bit of care. I am still waiting for the proper 07 stuff to come out so I can replace the hacked up stuff I now have.

Definitely no hacking required here and I've never seen another 07 that has required hacking either.

They are Oxford heated grips BTW.

If the guards are in the way of cables etc. you need to rotate the switch assembly. No biggie. I have 'em on a 07 and went on real easy!

I put the OEM handguards on as well with no problems.
