They also provide great mounting points for bungees. On a long trip you might wind up carrying or taking home something you had not planned on.

keep the passenger pegs

oh ya, just like 2mstone, I pick up mature shapely women all the time. Well not exactly, but I did once give a tired hiker a lift back to his parked car.

Whenever someone I've been riding with has had a problem with their bike, it seems that the mighty (and roomy) Vee is the preferred taxi for the ride of shame back to civilization.

So anyway, I'd leave the passenger pegs. They don't weigh that much and you might need them.

One of the things I like most about these bikes is their versatility. I see no point in removing pegs and limiting my options.

I haven't looked at it on the vstrom but when teaching I've had to relocate the passenger peg to the riders peg on a bike that was parked creatively by a student as we were out of spares for that particular model.

I've got so much crap packed on the bike, no way I've got room for a shapely lady. Just Dang!

I want DETAILS ! I'm already trying to make plans for the Cache Rally. That sounds like a good one and I love Utah (to visit. don't want to live there again)
