im thinking about installing en esystem from scotteroil but i wonder, if the oil hits the chain only at one side, how does it flow to the othet side?
even if it does, the rings from bought sides will never get even lubrication am i right or am i right?

I use a simpler manual oiler and ATF, no problems there, it hits the chain then works it's way around without me making any effort. If nothing else it gets smeared over the teeth on the sprockets and transfers that way.
It's not the 'lube' on the chain that does the magic as the rollers are internally lubed and sealed, what wins seems to be a combination of these factors: - Stopping the chain from getting rusty - Keeping the o-rings 'wet' so they don't catch on the side plates and tear - Slowing the wear from the grinding action between chain rollers and sprockets. 10x for the info,
by how much you estimate increasing chain life? |

This is my first full season after installing the Scottoiler. It is a vacuum actuated unit. I use ATF. After 20,000 klms, 2000 offroad, I am a believer. My chain remains in excellent shape and I have experienced none of the power-robbing friction scenarios (dry chain). It is set on the absolute lowest setting (it doesn't take Much).

You can buy an oiler that has a split system and does both sides. Otherwise, you can buy the hose and put in your own split system using tubing and two nossles. You can get the tubing at pet shops as its the same as the air line they use and very cheap plus they have all of the little fittings, also at a cheap price.

I was a non believer at first but after installing a Scott Oiler about a month ago it really does work and works well. Oil on both sides of the chain, no fling off, and very low maintenance. I highly recommend. I read somewhere that Scott has been perfecting these things for 50 years and they really know what they are doing.

I run ATF at a drip rate of one drip per 50± seconds. a quart of ATF lasts me about 7500 miles. decreased my required maintenance by 99% and almost tripled the life of my chain & sprockets
