I've been pondering a DIY solution also. In fact I won a VW Jetta Windshield washer pump for a whole 99 cents. Even thinking about a timer circuit that runs when powered to cycle the pump for a short period of time. I wasn't sure about just gravity to allow the lube (whatever chosen) to dribble out of some container. I also thought of larger diameter tubing. Of course the seller waited for over a week and never shipped only now to refund my money due to "losing it in Hurricane Sandy flood". I really suspect he didnt; want to sell it for the 99 cents (including shipping) or he would have shipped days before the storm hit. Oh well, off to find another one as cheap as possible.

Thanks heaps for that excellent idea!! I think it's a must. Next time off, I'm doing that for sure (although it is good to muck-out that area periodically.

Yes! Automatic Transmission Fluid--I don't really care which formula, but there probably is an ideal one.

hi everyone,
i started this post with en innocent Q, then i decided to buy an oilier system but seen how simple is the system i went to do it your self faze, well this is what i came out with. i put the oil tank up, first to be able control the amount of drops in real time depending on style riding and seconed because i like the cool look of it. i have second valve to tern on off the system, this one i will change with an solenoid the moment i put my hand on one of them. the on off solenoid will be conecten to the swicth but as well to a manual switch that lets me swicth it off even when the motor is on, for standing in trafic situation and few moment before getting to my destination just to avoid dropping oil all over. i still need to drive it more to perfect the system but i think it is a very good simple one allready ![]()

If we could get at the neutral light / brake light to shut it off when not moving. But what I here is very little oil is used and if dripping it will from splash from the lube before

I took my vacum operated Scott Oiler off my KLR & had it installed on my
06 Vee. my 3rd chain is still like new with 55,000mi. on bike. One of my sons was in Trucking business, when he quit he had some synthetic final drive oil & i'm using that about 90 wt. the dispenser just goes to one side of sproket, but it spreads all over chain & rear of bike. the oil resavour runs about 1300 to1500 mi. before refill. |
