I took it out for a long country ride yesterday morning. On my way back I drove thru my small town to get back home. Maintaining the city speedlimit it started it's typical hiccuping and heating up. I had to take a left turn and while executing the turn it unexpectedly stalled, rear wheel locked up almost forcing me to go down. I had to catch myself by putting my foot down as I was in a lean when it stalled. Not good on my knee, major strain but I was barely able to save it.
I never thought about this bike having a "dangerously" lean condition, but I do now! Not good! I should be getting the PC-V tomorrow and hopefully it won't happen again. |

That happened to me once, although the engine was cold. I was on a turn a few hundred meters from work, it gave a big hiccup, next thing I was on the road. I replaced the front sprocket to lower the gearing a bit, did a TBS and adjusted the idle to 1200. I still don't trust it as from time to time it will do the same thing. I live with it.

That's a shame a new bike wants to stall. Shoulda got an older model that doesn't have hiccups. My '04 Wee doesn't seem to ever do that. I even had the rpms set low, It's up to 1200 rpms at an idle now though.
Other brand forums complain about the same sort of behavior. Must be the wonderful way the EPA requires manufactures to adjust things now. |

downshift first before making the turn.

The lean condition, in and of itself, should not cause a bike to stall mid-turn. Surge? Hiccup? Yeah, but not a stall.
Check your idle speed, and stay up in revs on a Vee...it's not a bike that should be lugged around, it runs better and smoother when kept in higher revs. If it's running so poorly that it's stalling, you have more going on than a overly lean fuel map.

Let me say, first of all I'm no stranger to riding. I do own two 40+ motocross championships on an amature level. I could list all my prior bikes like some have done on here beginning with my 1967 Minitrail 50 but it would take me a while to list. That being said..... I installed a 43T on the rear. I was in first gear while making the turn. My bike just got it's first service which I entrusted the dealer to do a TBS as I has requested. What else could it be if it is not poor fuel management? And, sorry I didn't buy an oldy goldy V but that is not me. |
