Default Clutch Lever

Hey Guys,

So I am absolutely in love with my new 2012 DL1000, bike does everything amazingly well. However, one thing I quickly noticed that was not so fun is the clutch. Being in NYC I am frequently in traffic and my arms are slowly looking like Popeye because the lever is so hard to pull in. Any way to decrease the amount of pressure needed to do so?

The Vee does take more than average force to hold the clutch lever in while in stop and go traffic. Not a lot to be done about how much pressure it takes, but I found that changing where the lever engages makes it easier to get more of your fingers on the lever. This makes it seem easier to pull.

For a light pull, you got the right year but the wrong model. The Glee with its new actuator mechanism has an even lighter clutch pull than the Wee which is lighter than the Vee. Less power allows lighter clutch springs for one thing.

I love that my Vee easily finds neutral very quickly. Use it alot in traffic and stops. Not so lucky with my Harley!

Thanks for the input guys, I think I will take a look into the modification, either that or continue growing the 6-pack on my arms.

I have smaller hands so I went with some Ebay levers that are more adjustable than stock. Not sure if these are the exact ones, but pretty much the same thing:

Ebay links are against forum rules.

Default Clutch lever

My DL1000 2012 levers are longer than I like. I would prefer short ones so I could just use my first two fingers. I find lots of levers for up to 2010 models and I wonder if they are really different than 2012 levers.

The 2012 Vee years has the same levers as earlier years.
