So this bike was rock solid with the worn out Metzler Tourance and now that I have brand new (now worn in) Shinko 715s, the bike's front end is much lighter feeling.
Here is the list of changes:
Why is this happening? I hate going over 70 mph now on the California freeways I frequent.

Are you riding over rain grooves? Tread pattern can make a big difference in that case.

Tire profiles are different and more triangular wants to fall in easier.
Fast handling and instability go hand in hand. However things were apart to put the tires on etc. so look carefully and it could be aggravate like loose steering head etc. I ain't looking but did you go from radials to bias? |

Because you are gradually becoming less crazy and are developing a fear of disaster. Most all tires will feel different from another. Like oil, personal preference. Knobbies will really feel skittish. |

Did you check the tire pressure after the new tires were added?

Try leaning forward.

If you don't have a fork brace, you might want to consider one. My Wee felt light as speeds of 65 and over until I put one on. In fact, it felt so scary that I quit riding it at those speeds until the fork brace was on. The bike felt planted after that. It was even more planted when I dropped the front triple tree by 12 mm.

Thanks for all the replies.
The tires are radials. I am used to riding over rain grooves so I don't think it is that. I installed Rick's fork brace before the tires and noticed an amazing difference. Pressures are at 35 front and rear. And I do ride cautiously in general, but in Calif, 70 mph will get you run off the road. I tried leaning forward and no difference. Under heavy braking, no difference. Traction is nice with the new rear tire, but I don't ride super hard that I am dancing on the front wheel. It must be the profile of the tire. The tourance was much flatter, that much I know so that must be it. Not confidence inspiring. Sent from my PC36100 using Motorcycle.com Free App

If the bike felt rock solid with the old tire ,I'm guessing you didn't change the fork height until you didn't like the feel of the new tire.
Did the fork change help? Just to be clear, when you said drop the fork in the tripple, are you saying the top of the fork used to stick up through the tripple and now is closer to being flush? |
