Default So much better!

After a great transaction with Blair at SVRacingparts (highly recommeded by the way) and an hour and a half in the garage the Vee is now transformed! Changing from 17/41 sprockets to 16/43 made a world of difference! Now to check the odometer, but I think a speedo-healer needs to be ordered.

What kind of RPM's are you getting at hwy speeds with that gearing change?

You most definitely needs speedo-healer, but worth every penny, bike should have come from the factory like this

I bought my 07 Vee several weeks ago and this conversion is one of the first

things I did to it ( also purchased sprockets from Blair ). I ordered the

SpeedoDRD from Moto Mummy ( free shipping ) and had my son run down the

road with his GPS attached and used the correction factor from 12oclock labs.

Very easy to set up, with You Tube having vids . My riding is mostly in town

with an occasional short interstate run. Haven't really checked rpms yet.

Like stated previously, this is the way it should have come from the factory.

After reading threads on this and other forums, i think I will be going 16/43 on my new strom when i pick it up. Probably at the same time I do the front/rear springs

Tech day at Fitz's house!

I have a 16t sprocket w/ 2 hours on it for $25. w/ shipping.

Dirt or freeway I see no need to lower ratio.

I went w/ recommendations here and tried the 16/43 and (after 2 hours) immediately changed the front sprocket to bring it back close to stock.

I like cursing at 75-80mph @ 4500 rpm. Change to 16/43 and your running @ 5200 rpm for this speed. Can't figure out why this combo is "recommended."

YMMV

I have no proplem with the stock gearing, I would'nt want to have the revs up at 5200 at hwy speeds. That is just what works for me.

I'm in the middle, I guess -- 17/43.

And a SpeedoDRD from Motomummy, of course.

Some seem to have a near religious dogma to cruise in top gear

Some days on little roads I don't think I get out of 4th, so stock gearing is pretty zippy

In drag racing sometimes we went up a gear to avoid an extra shift. In RR they mess to be at certain track points at certain revs.
