Default Am I nuts?

I have a perfectly good 09 Wee which is well farkled. Suddenly, I have the urge for more power. I looked at the Yamaha S10 but it is too expensive so now I am considering a Vee. Anybody out there interested in a trade? My bike has Givi screen with Manstad mount. Givi top case. Hand protectors (?). Frame sliders. Russell seat. Fork brace. Adjustable Bar Backs. Approximately 5500 miles. Located in Macon Ga.

Fuzzyrider, take two aspirin and sleep on it. Hopefully you will wake up and realize that the bike you have is just what you need.

You 'need' more power, what for?

Yes, you're nuts.
An s10 has not much more power than the wee, but it is a nicer bike (at least on paper; I've never ridden one).

The vee is going to be a dissapointment; it will give you more power than your wee for the first ten minutes, and then you'll get used to it, the novelty will wear off and you'll regret your decision.

I suggest you keep your wee and shop for a second bike (for when you want the power-rush).

I highly recommend you look at some old air/oil cooled gsx bikes (the gs1150 being on top of the list); gobs more power than a vee, and you feel like you're going twice as fast at half the speed (and they reach twice the speed).

A bandit 1200 or 1250 can also be picked up in decent condition for a very good price and they are superb bikes.

If that doesn't turn your crank, I suggest you sell your wee while it's still worth something and shop for a used BMW k1200GT (last generation); you'll never look at another bike again.

Nope, you're not nuts. Just be aware you'll be giving up a little in the handling dept for the extra power.

Yes you are nuts.

Everyone wonders if the grass is greener on the other side. Take one for a spin and see if you like. I've been very happy with my Vee.

Hopefully DirtDad will chime in because he has owned all three bikes.

And a Spyder, which may cast a long shadow on his judgement.

I'm currently bikeless and in no position to seriously consider a purchase for a while, but have been pondering this very question.

The rumours of a re-designed DL1000 on the horizon have further clouded my reasoning.

The main reason I believe most bikes are sold is what I call

BIKE-O-BORDUMB

The mistaken belief that some how a new bike will markedly change the experience. It won't I have a VEE because I have always had super bikes and had not had an under 100 hp bike for over 30 years.

I have fought bike-o-bordumb by farkling. Back in the day this was sometimes down to stiffening a frame, cams, shaved head, smooth bore, porting wider rims ........ Little harder now but..

A complete suspension upgrade will make the bike completely new, paint, seat etc. Much better than 14000 for that new feeling.

The other tact is to do what you want which is to sell/trade Which would be your bike plus like 1500. I like MO POWAR it is after all a MOTORcycle not Econobike.

Like the old joke

Did I ever tell you about the worst sex I ever had?
It was wonderful

Bikes are all great from 50's to 2500's they all have their charm, but regardless of what you do you will only be the cool guy for a month then some one on a 400 will pass you on a mountain road anyway,

I rode an S10. It dwarfts the Wee. It seems huge! Upper wind protection was not as good. It did have more power, but I bet not any more than a Vee. I have a Wee and love the light handling in the mountains. Yes there are times I wish for more power too, but I have an SV1000 which pretty much takes care of that. The SV is great but the Wee is much smoother when you just want to cruise along. I decided a long time ago that 1 bike could not be all that I wanted so multiple ones fill the bill. Look for good used ones and you can have it all! I have a DRZ400 for dual sporting cause I go some places where a Strom or S10 or any big one is just not going to work. I have less in all my bikes than 1 BWW or S10.
