Just about everybody is happy with the stand they got. On the other hand, a small minority of SW-M owners feel the bike comes off the stand too easily, it grounds too easily on speed bumps or it seems a little wobbly. Some OEM or Afrika owners had to file the mounting holes a little and/or don't like how easily it grounds on left turns. A small number of OEM owners had the foot tangs bend or break.

I have the Suzuki stand too. I have had no problems with it, easy to get the bike up on it.

I contrast this with what I used to go through getting my Connie up on her centerstand. THAT was an effort--think rock and push, rock and push.

Once you learn to use your foot it's easy!

Default Does one size fit all?

Can't seem to figure this out from any Forum search.... does the center stand (any center stand) fit any Vstrom? I have a 2003 DL1000 and this will be my first mod. Don't want to buy the wrong one...

All years of DL1000s are the same.
All years of DL650s are the same.
The 650 and 1000 stands are different and specific to each model.
If you have a DL1000 of any year, you need a DL1000 stand.

Muchos Gracias... That's what I needed to know...I see you are in Evanston. Beautiful area. I will be back in your neighborhood in September. Maybe I could buy you a drink of your choice for all your help and sage advice?

Windshield question - seems a lot of the aftermarket shields don't fit the 2003 1000. True? Where's a good thread for research on this next quest? I hate the search engine on these forums..

Use the Google search box at the top for this forum. K2 - K3 Windshields is only about '02-'03 windscreens.

I have gone through two Suzuki center stands.

The first was operartor error. One of the bolts came loose and out on the stand causing the stand to come loose. So when I thought the stand was up under the bike (it wasnt), took off in the parking lot to the left and the setp down bar dragged and bent some. I remounted the stand and all, but since the step down bar bent, it got weak and eventually broke. I took it off and discarded it. So, note to self, check the bolts on the center stand from time to time!

The 2nd center stand worked well. I never had any issues with it coming loose. I installed this one, the other was installed by the dealer. Hmmm.... But anyway, it worked fine, but the step down bar eventually started to bend and it also got weak and no longer has any leverage. I am not sure if this can be "fixed". I am looking at another center stand, the SW-Motech, this go around in the near future. I do miss having working center stand.
