Have just ordered a new clutch basket for my 2003 model and noticed the old part number I had for the primary basket is different to the part number now listed as OEM I have on the old listing and is now the same as the 2010 model ?

Am I imagining things ? or have Suzuki changed the part and replaced it with a newer model....therefore not accepting any liability for the old models?

The part number for your 2003 has been superceded by the part number for the "late style" basket. So yes, Suzuki changed the part and that was done many, many years ago.

The difference is the inner plate. Early models were prone to cracking. The later style reinforces the spring pocket to eliminate the cracking. Had absolutely nothing to do with chudder, both styles are just as apt to develop chudder. So the part you are ordering for your '03 is the same as the ones they are putting in the 2012 models and is a better part than your original was. The two designs are interchangeable with no problems.

Using a glass plate etc. and some wet sand paper you can dress your clutch plates

figure 8 a few times with finger tips then rotate 90 degreees figure 8 etc.

SWEET LORD !!! Can someone just give me the correct size of the shim i need to tack behind my springs !!! I know it is somewhere in the endless pages,,,,but it is brutal going through it

I may use valve shims for the job....just a quick respoce on the size would be sweet. Thanks

Ok found it 3/4" washer (hardened) i may measure the thickness of that, & opt for 6 valve shims instead.

Yes that is correct "RealShelby" messaged me the specs

It is hard to find them .043" thick! More like .055" give or take.

The ones I machine for the WERKS baskets are .043".
