It won't. Don't let us overstate the issue. I'd bet you a 12 pack that if you take the time to adjust the secondaries properly, then do a TBS, the bike will run a ton better. It'll still have a bit of lean surge between 3500 and 4000, but mine was really not that bad. I wrote "quite a stumble", but it wasn't like it was jerky or losing power. It just wasn't very smooth.

The bike is fairly bulletproof, and it'll gladly haul you around for many 10s of thousands of miles. But it runs lean as hell between 3500 and 4000 rpm.

If your bike has something more severe and is really losing a noticeable amount of power in that RPM range, then you may be one of the extremely rare people who truly have something wrong with your bike. In fact, you'd be the only person I've seen with this exact problem.

Don't give up on it, or do much else, without adjusting the secondaries and making sure the TBS is as close as you can get it. There are "how-to"s on this board which will guide you step by step. The dealers don't set these bikes up real well. You can do better.

BTW: I was the third owner of my bike and my dealer was able to get Suzuki to replace the ECM.

Start here:

DL1000/650 Fuel Tank Removal

Then do this:

DL1000 How to adjust the Secondary Throttle Plates

Then do this:

Throttle Body Synchronization DL1000

If all that doesn't make your bike a lot happier, I owe you some longnecks. Take your time, be careful, and you can have it all done in an afternoon.

Yes, the throttle bodies were synced. The tech who did the service is very good and very conscientious but has just not seen this particular problem. The shop wanted to keep it but I had to return home. What is odd is that it ran very well for over 1000 miles that I put on it but then this problem popped up. I'm pretty familiar with the PC3, and in fact have one sitting on my work bench now for a Rocket 3 along with a performance exhaust. I've already downloaded all of the tunes for it. They are pretty easy to install and program. I had not considered one for my Strom though so this is good information. This is exactly why I posted my problem.

On the issues with other bikes over the years, yes I've had a number of them but nothing that is such a stumper. I'm just frustrated because the bike is in Texas and I am in Washington with my shop and tools. I'll get it sorted out. Thanks for the links Larry and that is good news that Suzuki still covered the ECM replacement. I'll quite being pissed now.
