Built a $5 manometer, performed a TBS and my 1000 doesn't have any intake backfire anymore. Checked the secondaries and they were equal. I'm really going to find out if it doesn't backfire after it cools down. Before the TBS, I would be going through a 20 mph school zone, it would have intake backfire that was irritating. After I did the TBS, I even lugged the engine down to 1800 rpm in third gear and no intake backfire. Took me about 30 minutes to do the TBS due the fluid kept getting unbalanced on the manometer. It would just keep rising and lowering. It would seem I had it and when I revved the engine, it would start going out of balance. After a while I got it. Waiting to see how it runs after it gets cold.

Update on the cold start. Didn't even wait for the first bar to appear on the temp guage. No intake misfire and even lugged it at 1800 rpm in fourth gear and no misfire. I have driveline lash but that will be solved when my Richland Rick axle spacer is delivered. I'm glad the posting on the $1.55 manometer encouraged me to build one. Most manometers I've seen for sale were at least $70.00. So the verdict is ... a cheap manometer worked great for me. I would highly recommend performing a TBS on your strom! You won't regret it.
