So in essence, will these SW Motech racks work for mounting the pelican cases directly to them, or is there a separate bracket that I would need to get?
SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock Sidecarrier (Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom, '02-) Evo Style for Micatech, Givi, TraX ALU-BOX, & Krauser sidecases - KFT.05.158.200 : TwistedThrottle.com My worry is the amount of "discontinued quick-lock sidecarrier" notices which I am nnot sure if they are referring to the rack itself or the actual lock that everyone says is worthless anyway. Also, nowhere on the description does is say that this rack can be used on the pelican cases. I just want to verify before making the big purchase.

Anyway, to answer your question: You can mount the Pelican cases directly to the SW-Motech rack. You will need to buy your own mounting bolts, washer, nuts, etc. If you want the cases to be removable from the rack, you can buy a kit from Twisted Throttle. I first mounted my cases directly to the rack. Later I added the Twisted Throttle kit. Now I can easily remove the cases from the rack and I can also remove the rack from the bike. |

Thanks Satch. Yeah I've pent countless hours late at night scouring the old threads...searching for answers to life's questions...lol
So is this the adapter needed for the cases? Quick Release Mounting Kit for 2 cases. (Sidecase Setup) - PEL.205 : TwistedThrottle.com I think i may go that route since it would just be odd to remove the entire bracket and take it into a hotel room. Was the installation process simple enough?

As far as spacers are concerned, I don't think I'll be needing them as I intend to install them on my 1000
Thanks for the input! Now i need to find the most affordable place to get the pelican cases

Avoid Clamshell type panniers. You won't believe how much more practical and usefull top-loading panniers are.
