I notice most of you aren't hooking up the lighting that comes with the box. I'm curious as to why you wouldn't want to hook it up? Seems like it would block your bike's taillight from view of vehicles that sit a little higher..(semis, suvs) and a brakelight on your topbox would be the only indication you are slowing down/stopping to them. Just sayin...

Not only am I hooking mine up, I ordered the Bestem Strip of LED lights to hook up, plus, I've purchased Hyperlights to put on each side of the tag-holder. I've nearly been run over from behind before, I want to significantly increase the chance I'll be seen.

I hooked my lights up. Love it. Although I need to cut into the wire and put a removable connecter as I want to use this bestem with multiple bikes (move it to whichever bike I choose to rid into work that day). It wasn't hard at all. One evening in a garage with some beer and tunes and taking my time.

I have the brake light on my Bestem trunk connected. I used a sealed connector similar to what Eastern Beaver sells.
Mounting to the Suzuki side bags rack took some thought, but wasn't too difficult. Had to drill two holes for the front screws and file a bit for the rears. Washers to raise the plate above the rack's frame mounts in the front. Cut down one of the bars and used that as a underside retainer for the rear. I also went out and got shorter bolts w/nylon insert nuts, as the supplied ones were too long to be useful, and I don't have an easy way to cut down metric bolts. Haven't been out too much with the box on, as the current weather here has caused the roads to be coated with salt, but the few runs with the box on were fine. |

Mine should be arriving tomorrow or Wednesday the 2nd.
I definitely want to connect the brake light on the box. |

I hooked up BOTH the box light and the optional LED strip to my brakelight. Combined with Hyperlights and the OEM brake light, I think I'll be seen when I put on my brakes! The combo of both Bestem lights only pulls something like 18milliamps...no problem.
I MIGHT change the small rear box light to a running light, but, leaving it this way for now. |

Couldn't be bothered messing around with the tap into the lines to be honest.
Replacing that strip of white tape with Solas tape made enough of a difference that for visibility at night was fine without extra lights. You MIGHT have a business selling pre-made tap connectors as an add-on though, If I'd just been able to buy the wiring to do it I might have done it. Even working with someone like Eastern Beaver and having cross links on your sites might benefit both companies. Pete |

I wrote to Bestem asking for some parts, two days later they are in the mail. Daz has been really great to work with, we have 6 of the cases, 2 are used as top box, 4 are mounted as side cases. 2008 & 2012 wee
