Can anyone tell me if the trunk base plate fits onto the 2012 model Vstom rack, or is an additional adaptor plate needed ??

I just had a spare made at a local "Mom and Pop" hardware store. The blank is an ilco 1611. I believe on the rack they keep the blanks it was showing as a gas cap key. Initially he wasn't sure if it would work but I was able to get the blank inserted into the lock so then he cut it and it works fine.

Thanks, I went to 2 places and got some 'blank' looks. I'm off to the local 100 yr old hdw. store.

It fits but you'll need to get some shorter bolts for the back but it fits without drilling. The back is a bit tricky to get started but a pair of needle nose pliers does wonders.

I ordered the Bestem T-box 2012, and fitted it a couple of nights ago, and as you said, just cut the rear bolts to suit (34mm shank length) and it bolts straight on, using one of the securing bars that comes with the box, and two of the bolt holes at the rear of the rack. This is the only base plate that I have found that will fit onto the 2012 Wee with out needing an adaptor plate or mods. Givi, Kappa and Rjays base plates, don't line up with the bolt holes on the rack. Nice one.

I've had my T-box for about 6 mos and am so totally satisfied. It was a piece of cake to install (though I never hooked up the lights), has stood up well. Carries a case of beer with ease. Like the back support for passenger. For the money, maybe the best add-on available.

Thanks for the photo. I wear a large helmet and was wondering if I can get two of those into that case?

Does it lock or is it on once you install it?

I have searched around the forum a bit, but I am new to motorcycling all together. I must say after 400 miles on my wee-strom I really enjoy it.

1 Large f/f turned sideways will fit with no problem.



Once you put it on, you can lock it. To remove it, you open the latch and push the red button.

Just a note that for newbie wrenchers, installation will require more creativity than you're used to. It wasn't (for me) as straightforward as it seems to have been for others. And, frankly, the instructions that came with the case can go right into the recycling bin, that's how useless they were. Without this forum, and piecing together various tidbits of wisdom, and some old-fashioned cussing and sweating, it would've been a bear to install.
