Just saw the news tonight and the person who died from being rear ended at speed in Mulgrave last night was riding a vstrom. I hope it is no one we know and very sad news indeed.

Early model DL1000 by the looks of it. I know of three Melbourne people on this forum who have owned silver 1000s. One does not any longer, one lives at the other side of town and the third I think lives in that general area but I don't know how to contact him or even whether he still owns the bike.

EDIT: The person I was thinking about had crash bars and a non genuine screen.

RIP no matter if he was a stromtrooper or not, my thoughts are with his family!!

The distracted driving thing is killing a lot of people.
I wonder what was so important that the driver took someone's life?

Yes but I doubt that was a problem in this case. The bike was rear ended at high speed going down a straight hill that is a bit of a drag strip. I sounds like the car was speeding over the brow of the hill and ran straight over the biker who was probably riding at the speed limit. The crash happened about 1am.
