Sorry about the impending hijack...
I don't live in Mackay, or even Australia, but over Christmas I will be having a house guest from Mackay. She is currently a student at the University of Wyoming and can't afford to fly home for the holiday. My daughter invited her to spend the break with us. Are there any uniquely Australian Christmas traditions (besides vegamite - got that one covered) that may make her feel more at home? Just curious... G26 Sent from my Tricorder.

Yes guys......but it is probably bloody winter over there at the moment
![]() She would probably love a traditional winter Christmas complete with a roast dinner with all the trimmings. Oh, and yes of course.....plenty of grog [alcohol/booze, maybe even some Aussie beer if you can find some]. Merry Christmas to you, and thanks for looking after one of our Aussies

I'm with ockerstrom on this.....we as Aussies are well versed due to our wonderful TV's on American Christmas traditions and I'd say she would relish the opportunity of a traditional Xmas as you guys have....really Ham it up so to speak
I wouldn't be too concerned on Aussie traditions apart from what you might like to know more about us I guess. Best way to learn that is come over here....and we'll throw another shrimp...eeer i mean prawn on the barbie for ya Mmmmmm now about Mackay Qld.....never been there although been up as far as Rockhampton by plane. One day I'll take my Wee-strom up there....inland up and coast return....sounds like a plan...Ock..you up for it? Cheers wobbly_boot |
