This particular first entry will be updated as the thread evolves with all the essential info so you don't have to troll through all the pages to find out what's what, who's coming and all that.

Christmas Overnighter, Sat-Sun, Dec 8-9, at BrettStrom's place, 395 Beaury Creek Road, Urbenville, NSW. Google Map if coming from the south. True to the method of numbering rural properties it is 3.95 kms from the nearest main intersection (on Toloom Rd.) Or, as Brett describes it: "From the top of Beaury Creek Road VIA Woodenbong, I am approximately 7kms past the Leuvka 4x4 park turn-off. Otherwise, from Urbenville, turn right at the State School follow the bitumen to a T intersection which is dirt, turn left, ride approximately 2kms." Map of direct path from Urbenville HERE.

Brett & Diana have kindly offered the use of their property. Their home ph is 02 6634 1466. No mobile reception (not sure if that includes Telstra).

Dinner will be at the nearby Urbenville Pub (7 kms). Menu - see attached pic below - lamb, pork, + apple pie & ice cream etc. If you have special dietry requirements please contact Diane or Brett asap so they can work with Daryl to meet your needs.
We can use Daryl's (publican) van to taxi back 'n forth. Late night bon-fire at Brett's. Sunday breakfast BBQ, $5

Bring along partners, and open to non-VStroms, too. We had a lovely time at Chef's last year and Lions Road in May and if we can have a similar atmosphere again that'll be great.

There are many great rides in the area, both on-road and off-road. Chef is leading an off-road ride. Volunteer needed to lead a road ride. PM SteveC for route suggestions and group-ride notes.

Fuel up bikes at either Woodenbong or Urbenville and grab ice before arriving at the property. QLD'ers will lose an hour crossing the border (NSW on daylight saving time).

Hot day

Well the urbenville weather for yesterday and today is very hot. The same predicted for next weekend. The creeks aren't following at present as we haven't had any rain.

There are a couple of places for a dip, one of them being the woodenbong swimming pool. There are a couple of waterholes around the place. Where the camp is set up is good for late afternoon shade, during the day you can seek rufuge down on the bank of the creek under the trees.

Those of you arriving Friday, we might organise a early morning ride Saturday somewhere. Let me know if you are interested and if there is a place you would like to ride to, otherwise I will coordinate one. A good ride from here on a hot day is up to Queen Mary falls, some bitumen and some good gravel/dirt.

Cheers

I would advise that there will be another ring in! My brother.... Peter..... who is a BMW & now a Triumph lover who has been through a small Hell with Chemo and associated treatments. He will start work again after 7 months off work on the following Monday afternoon and thought it appropriate that you should be subjected to rants about Triumphs and all things motorcycle. He has a unique ability to warm to anybody and can really ride a bike harder than any person Ive ever meet. 39 yearsof staying upright with a smile proves you can't keep a person who lives for two wheels down no matter what. Im proud that he needs to do this, it takes balls (even if they have been taken.. Hint). You will love him and we are in for all meals and all friendships that can be offered. See u all Saturday morning. Hope he remembers the ear plugs for the snoring:thumbup: thanks for organising this as I think it will be exceptonal. He has a few klicks to do to get there but he will do it

Kids who are coming

Can we have a tally of the kids who are coming and their ages. I have had a few inquiries wether people should bring their kids or not.

My own kids will propbably be around probably not at the camp or even at the dinner but will be there during the day etc. Any of the kids that do come are welcome to stay at the house with my kids whilst the adults are at dinner.

Cheers

Ok, a couple changes.

Thunderdownunder - glad your brother can come along.
RTLiney (Stu) has pulled out (clash with a work doo on Saturday) EDIT: and suspected broken toes after a fall off the bike yesterday.

Had lunch at the Crown yesterday as part of a TeamMoto adv ride. Stinking hot day so I surveyed the site and gave Daryl the ok to start digging. Hope it's ready by Saturday. (photo should appear below)

The puppies were there and look to be in good health.

Now, er, an announcement from me. I will be celebrating my 50th birthday this weekend. My wife is away at the moment, so I will take the opportunity on Saturday night to celebrate the occassion.

Getting there from Gold Coast, and a Saturday ride.

Here's my draft plan for getting there:

Leave Gold Coast 7:30, to Tyalgum, then Mebbin State, Border Ranges, Lions Rd, Toonumbar Forest Rd, over the top & down Coxs Rd to Summerland Way.

Then more gravel via Glen Rd (BrettStrom's shortcut) and Boomi Crk Rd into Urbenville.

Even going hard top, it's 3 hrs (200 km) so adding in the gravel bits, it will be about 5 hrs. Steadily plodding on will be the order of the day. Due to a slightly faster pace, probably not suitable to beginners. BYO lunch & drink. Should be in Urbenville by early-mid afternoon NSW time. Anyone want to come with me?

Chef, have you organised an off-road loop?

Brett, any ideas for the latte set? The only cafe I know of near your place is Killarney & Queen Mary Falls, but I thought that's a good route home on Sunday morning so do something different Saturday afternoon eg, perhaps down to Bonalbo Pub (1/2 hr each way) or to Drake (an hour each way).

Wiangaree store has a good coffee or onto Kyogle to the Box and Dice cafe. It would appear most will get here mid to late afternoon Saturday and plan a route down or up therefore they may only be time for a short run that afternoon around this area if those are interested and with people making plans for the route home on Sunday.

Either way Christmas drinks start about 3-4pm Saturday NSW Time on the farm, I wont be riding to far that afternoon.

Cheers

Well well, the big 50.

I just had my 50th a few weeks back Steve. All good so far, at least I am officially an old bugger and can legally winge when it hurts to get up. It will be a good night.

Red Neddy, Sandman 61 and I are leaving late AM so we will not be able to do run you plan, but we will be there mid afternoon at the farm to help start the celebration. Keep an eye out for 1 red, 1 blue, 1 gold Strom if your at the farm as I am only guessing the whereabouts from the pub, we might call in and stock up and get directions.

See you when we see you! Trevor

Yes Dave Drinks as well as ice even if you bring a collapasble esky or one of those cooler bags.

Dave when did you say you will be set up at the pub, we could arrange a pick up from the pub and you could come out to the farm for a few drinks prior to the dinner and go back in on the bus.

Best you be at the pub set up and ready to come out to the farm about 2:30pm NSW time.

cheers

Snacks, nibbles Saturday arvo

Just wanted to thro this out there and let everyone know that we haven't catered for snack/nibbles saturday arvo.

So if you haven't already thought to do so, could everyone bring along a packet of chips, nuts, jatz etc to put onto the communal table.

Just to reassure everyone we have organised the food for the breakfast.
Bacon n egg or Sausage sandwich, BBQ and Tomato sauce, tea and coffee and full strength milk. Also plastic plates. knives, forks and spoons and disposable cups.

Reminder the first bus off the farm for the pub will be leaving at 5:30pm NSW time.

:bom_angel:Everyone have a safe and enjoyable ride. See you when you arrive.

Cheers

Thanks Brett

Breaky sounds great Brett, we can collect the breaky $$ for you at camp. I am leaving at 10am, loosing an hour, stopping-off for lunch and traversing Lions Rd, Red Neddy, Sandman and I should be at camp to set up tents by 2.30pm-ish. We may do a local (70km) loop ride via Koreelah after that (depends on the heat etc). We will bring some snack/nibbles.

Cheers and thanks

On the (gravel) road to Urbenville

McGuyver can't make it for Saturday night, but will meet us at Ripples on the Creek cafe, Lions Rd (also called Grady’s Creek Road). It's about 3kms south of Simes Rd cnr (where we come out on Lions Rd after Border Ranges). Might be 1-2 other BNE riders with him.

If anyone else is in the area around about then, please join us for a minor birthday celebration coffee. Some of the southerners who arrive Fri might want to come over for a morning ride. The Lions Road is well worth doing.

I'm guessing we'll arrive at the cafe around noon NSW time (plus or minus 1/2 hr, barring any mishaps or flat tires etc). We'll get there when we do, and see whoever is there.

Also, heard from Chef. He's joining us from Tyalgum and hopes to get as far as Brett's for a short time in the afternoon before he has to head back home.
