Just finished 7 weeks on a DL1000 that I bought in San Fran and up to Alaska and caught the ferry back to the lower 48. It was a 2004 model and clutch shudder and bad brakes plus a stator failure in Casper Wy put me off a bit. I used an Airhawk the full time and the bars were after market and I had a Kouba lowering link on it plus Givi E46 top box and E21 side cases which carried my gear OK but maybe the side cases could have been bigger.
Now I realise that it did what I wanted and after reading on here and other sites I just bought a Wee. Its a 2012 model in bronze. Already bought lowering links, barkbuster hand guards, Oxford heated grips, a Givi tank bag with fuel cap ring, rear bobbins and it came with a ventura rack ordered a fork brace also. Now looking at side bags and maybe suspension as I am used to Aprilia's with Brembo brakes and Ohlins suspension. So what is the most common suspension update and I will put Galfer brake lines on it and whatever I find for luggage. Glad to join the throng Maurice |

G'day & Welcome Maurice....great to see another Novacastrian on board.
We're slowly building up a small contingent of strommers around these parts for regular rides.....more to come when it gets warmer. You might've seen my other thread posting here originally asking where all the Newcastle V-strommers are....I've seen heaps riding around but not many on here. So far we have Myself, katostrom, Chrisgrind and Bob (non member as he doesn't own puter) and hopefully you. So if you're interested on meeting a few local Strommers and going for some local rides....stay tuned ![]() Cheers wobbly_boot (Dave) |

i'm not sure suspension work is needed on the new 650. mine doesn't need anything (yet). i've also read hundreds of pages of wind buffetting and fixes but there is no wind issues with mine either. but mine is the adv model with variable screen...it's set in the middle.
