Drew: What a great possession that is to have, colour me green! Ha. that little Bullie is capable of getting you into anywhere that can be got (to). Lower the tire pressures and it will climb over a brick wall. WYKWIM!
I can see a Strom getting lonely for a while.
I hope to see a few PICS, deep deep into Aussie bush.

Love it, and keep it under lock and key, seriously!

Have fun,be safe

Default Getting dirty

Very soon I hope. Have to get some surgery on my eyes this week, some people stop once they need glasses, and then I've got a ride in the pipeline up in Cairns and another in the Mackay area. Still need to get myself a bit of off road gear, boots, and a bum bag for tools and spares etc. I might even go for an open face helmet with goggles if I can get some to fit over the glasses.
I was thinking of a ride from Cape Tribulation to Cooktown on the Weestrom but the Bultaco might be fun too.

Went for a ride up at Harvey range with a group of local trials riders, they were all on modern stuff Shercos and Ossas and Gas Gas trials bikes except for onefellow on a 1984 TY 350, his Gas Gas is currently broken. typical bike riders friendly and helpful. I did fall off a couple of times, well three times at least and I need to do a couple of minor repairs but the bike started first kick and ran well all morning.

Default Good job !

Such a nostalgic bike mate

I love my wee but got to say you need an IT degree more than a mechanic one to fix it

On the week end ride the number plate tail light mount tore through, it was perished and the kill switch stopped killing. The air intake hose was also split and I'd taped it up as a temporary solution.

I went to Clarke Rubber and purchased the correct type of rubber to make a new tail light mount $8. 10 minutes with a stanley knife some hole punches and straight edge and it was fixed.

Purchased a new air intake rubber, ordered Monday here Thursday morning, fitted this afternoon, about an hour of fiddling, had to remove tank seat and rear guard, 2 bolts for the seat one for the tank and three for the rear guard. Then two to remove the airbox from the frame. And disconnect the carburetor, two worm drive clamps. Spare parts available after 36 years. Putting it all back together took about 15 minutes. New kill switch fitted at the same time less than 10 minutes work.
I wonder if the DL 650 will be as well off for spare parts availability in 2048?
I don't think I'd attempt to do much more than oil and filters on my Wee, besides which it 's so reliable that there isn't much to do apart from ride the thing.
