MmmmmmmAfter reading Saturn5 and K1W1's advice, then going back and having another look at the Heidenaus, I think they could be right, those tyres look to be too agressive for the type of riding I'm likely to do which right now has been 98% road.
I'm actually beginning to swing a complete turn and am looking at either going back to the Tourances or maybe even going the Scorpion trail route.
The ST's have been given a good write up in most occasions and handle most gravel and fire trails without too much problem which I thought wouldn't be possible for almost a complete road style tread pattern.

The Tourances and Anakees seem to be pretty much on Par and both would suit me. I've read that the ST's tend to steer in a lot quicker and sharper than the Tourances.

So....I'm now thinking that I might stick with the tried and true (Tourances) at this stage and revisit the situation on the following set to see what kind of riding I'm likely to engage in. I've only had the wee for 6 months and have only ridden on about 3 gravel roads in that time.

Thanks everyone for your advice and input

Cheers

Another option for the more road biased is the Mitas E08. I have run one on the rear and no compaints at all, havent tried a front .

used anakee 2, trailwing and Scorpion, i highly recommend Trail Attack for mostly road riding. corner like a sports tyre, almost indifferent to ridges when riding over road works.

They last over 15,000km and i am on my second set- others only last 10-12k with my style of riding. They cost between $460 (canberra MC tyres and Tyres for Bike @Bne) to $560 fitted. I have no deceleration wobbles on both set which some mentioned.

another member order front and back from US for $330 landed in less than one week- of course fitting is extra

Shinko's are nice looking tyre - bit more aggressive than the tourance, I run Tourance EXP's as most of my riding is on black top and they are great for that, tend to be a bit slippery in slimey culverts though. Also have run the standard tourances and found they squirm a bit under hard cornering, reckon they are a bit better in the dirt too! Must remember I have a Vee and maybe what happens with a Wee might be a tad different.

I am also just about due for a new set of tyres. The last couple of sets have been Tourances however this time after having checked out Brett's tyres I am considering the Shinko 705 radials. From most reports I have read researching the forums they are a good tyre and last as well as the Tourances. The Shinko's are much better value, I have been quoted in Tamworth $149 front and $189 rear (+ $12/tyre fitting wheels off the bike) compared to Tourance $199 front and $269 rear.

G'day wobbly-boot I recommend the Shinko's as well. I picked up a set from the Motorcycle Warehouse whilst in the US about a month ago for AUS $165!! yes that's correct, front and rear tyres. (we are soo ripped off in AUS, the prices we are forced to pay)

Got them fitted at my local bike shop for $20 per tyre - BARGAN! Very happy.

Gday Dave,
I do mostly tar with the occasional gravel road (not offroad dirt bike type stuff). Time flies, glad you enjoyed the weekend in Bingara.
If you do go for the Shinko's make sure you get the radials, the 705's also come as a cross ply bias tyre which from what I have read had problems with delaminating.
Cheers
Ian
