Default What petrol and brand do you use in AU?

I've been reading forums from overseas and they talk about 87? we don't have this here isn't?, I actually use the premium petrol on my love and the cheapest on my car. Because "I LOVE MY WEE"

I rode a honda lead 100 cc scooter for 3 or 4 years before changing to my "Negra" in K9 and I can say that petrol brands really used to make a difference and of course the octane. NEVER ever use 7eleven crap. Stick with Shell, BP and texaco I extensively test the different brands and octanes in the hill I used to take to get to work (Allambie Heights) and petrol would make a huge difference in acceleration and top speed. 55 actually going up the hill with the scooter.

SO my fellow troopers from down under.

Witch octane and brand do you recommend???

I use 98 just because:

I LOVE MY WEE !!!! but hope I am not doing any harm !

Default Take in consideration

What about all the additives that premium petrol gets?

I think BP premium cleans your engine from the inside out, and Shell is being develop with F1 people, and texaco... well is from texas

I know is all marketing crap, but for a couple more bucks for a full tank ... I save it on my car anyway

Wee's run perfectly fine on standard unleaded in Australia (91 Octane) they even run okay on the crap that passes as standard fuel in NSW.

Don't get confused about Octane ratings the Yanks use a different system to us and Europe.

I doubt very much that there is any scientific basis in that. You are simply getting the results that you want. There is no way you can fill a vehicle with fuel today and do a test then refill the same vehicle with a mixture of new and old fuel a week or two weeks later and recreate the test in any meaningful way. Were the temperatures the same? Were the tyre pressures the sake? was the wind blowing in the same direction at the same speed? Was the weight of the vehicle and rider identical? Were you wearing the same clothes (wind resistance)? Did you start the bottom of the hill at the same speed every time?
There are far too many variable for what you were doing for it to be worthwhile.

When I first bought my Wea Strom, I asked the bike mechanic, "
what sort of fuel would be best for the bike?" He recommended a 95.

Default Science

My science is coming on the 7 horse power the scooter use to have, I could feel the difference between the brands.

So Kiwi you only use 91 on your wee?

My dealer told me to put the best. But I think it was more a matter of love than "Science"

Mobil regular since I bought the bike. The petrol station is about 400m away so I generally top it up after about 300km; 22,000km and an overall average of 4.3L/100km or 66mpg Imperial. I drop a capful of injector cleaner in every 3000km. I use regular in the Bandit as well as both the motors are tuned for low octane anyway.

In Sydney, nearly all fuel comes from one of two refineries, Shell, or Caltex. 7-11 would also come from one of these. However, Shell's refinery at Clyde is planned for closure.

.
The Suzuki "book" says 91 octane RON is okay for the Wee.

But the guy at my dealer (Suzuki dealer, that is) emphasized 95 octane.
I thought it tactless to confront him about that ~ figuring that either the dealer had had a few cases of slightly coked [sorry about that, again] Wees causing problems : or maybe it was a Keeping It Simple way of getting customers to avoid alcohol doped [sorry, sorry] fuel, which perhaps is not quite so safe for Wees as the official Suzuki line suggests.
(Perhaps the Feral Gummint exerts a mild pressure on importers & manufacturers to "approve" the E-10 fuel?)

Could there be some other reason?
The worse "mileage" of gasohol makes the DL650 look bad?
Similarly with slightly lower power output (or does the E.F.I. control system have enough feedback to richen the gasohol mixture at full throttle)??
.
