Hi all
We are going on a MHWeekend ride with an overnighter at the Jennings Hotel on the first weekend of July.
Rough plan will be White Swamp Rd, Beaury Creek Rd then Paddy's Flat to the Bruxner across to Tenterfield and up to Jennings.
We will be staying at the Jennings Pub.
Rooms $80 per head which includes dinner and breakfast.
Camping available out the back of the pub.
All welcome to join us or make your own way there.
We won't be going fast on the dirt as I am still learning and getting used to the wobbling around. :fineprint: :wink2:
That is very tempting...what a good deal. I will check my availability and see what the little lady says. It will be cold as your title indicates but worth every bit as its great country. Cheers.
Hey that's good to hear, that means she remembered to book us a room.
The day I rang up she was as crook as a dog, sneezing, snuffling & coughing to the point I put her on hands free so I didn't have to hold the phone :yesnod:
What is it with pubs and bookings........on our Tassie trip only two pubs got it right. Most used an old diary and it was full of scratch and scribble. Very annoying. Two did not have our booking and it pissed us off. We even confirmed a month or so in advance.
Planning and booking well ahead in Aus is not worth it, unless you carefully confirm.
Even on the other ride you missed Gary, last weekend, I called to confirm and change mine to a single rather than a double as the missus could not attend, perhaps doing them a favour. Luckily the daughter called to check and said "I hear you want to cancel all the rooms". What the %^&$. I would have been popular on our arrival, it is scary.
I say: Get it right dudes, you are in the accommodation industry. :furious:
There's nothing more discouraging then rocking up to the bar of the only pub in town, in the middle of nowhere just on dark in July with the frost starting to settle "Gday mate, have a room booked for the night" only to be met by a blank look.
Rang the Jennings pub a few days ago and there were still two rooms available with 2 x single beds in each if anyone else decides to join us.
We will be having Breakfast at Flavours in Boonah at approx. 0900.
Then our rough plan is White Swamp Rd, Beaury Creek Rd then Paddy's Flat to the Bruxner across to Tenterfield and up to Jennings.
However we want to use this ride to get some practice in with our camera equipment :fineprint: for our bigger trip in August.
So if anyone that joins us don't feel you have to stay with us for the day, you can ride at your own pace and meet us there :yesnod:
I just got back from a couple of nights away for work and have a bit on, so I will have to give this a miss. The brass monkey festival in Stanthorpe looks pretty cool, lots of local music. You guys will have a great night. More planning on my behalf for next year. Thanks for posting this up.
I am looking at Woodenbong though........a weekend away in July.
Well a big thanks for those that braved the cold and joined us for the inaugural Brass Monkey weekend at Jennings as we are thinking of making it an annual winter get together. :yesnod:
We left a bit later than planned and had a really good ride down thru White Swamp with TDU and the Pumpkin to arrive at Jennings about 3pm.
As we arrived at Jennings GH adventurers were just leaving to go explore the area
So as we settled in the rest of the brave souls arrived
Thunder (Alec) arrived as did Ozmultis (Andrew) and Strongarm (Ian)
After everyone had arrived and changed it was time for a few quite drinks around the fire.
Before dinner
After dinner and a few bottles of red everyone headed off to bed and their electric blankets, temp was forecast for a low -4.
Hi all
After a really nice breakfast of juice, cereal, toast, bacon and scrambled eggs we said our farewells to Strongarm and Ozmultis and the rest of us headed up to Ballandean to check out the Pyramid
Great weekend away, thanks to Ang and Hugh for calling it. At night it was as cold as a witches tit in a brass bra but the days were clear and sunny so the riding was first class and a great location. Could become a regular annual event
NICE! Looking like a plan, I would love to make it next year. Just a bit on at the moment. The shots look really good, great blue skies. The shot of the meal and wine is very appealing. There's nothing better that a fire and some good folks to share it with. Looking forward to the vid.....
So that's the famous Ballandean Pyramid, nice shot from above Ang. It was a good weekend, great to catch with old mates over a good local red.
A few pics from the ride up
Great camera angles off the bike. The area around the pyramid looks great from the drone. A great concept to add to ride reports, it has brought us into the current century! [that's the done, not the pyramid]
Your guitar work is getting pretty groovy there Hugh.....(we wish), it's a good track you guys chose.
Nice. And thanks. [i want to be in it next year] Did you get to Stanthorpe for the actual brass monkey festival etc.?
Yes the drone has added another level/layer to the videos and theres a few options we haven't tried yet :yesnod: & we have a few more different camera angles to try as well to make the vid's more interesting :wink2:
I actually took guitar lessons when I was younger.....what a waste of freakin money they were :green_lol::grin2:
No we didn't get to the festival, we had a slow start with an 0830 breakfast and then the ride home, maybe next year :yesnod:
Cheers Hugh & Ang
