Ok, I'm starting to plan out a touring trip with Halls Gap gathering to be in the middle of 2 weeks.
I'm planning on leaving Sydney the Sunday or Monday before the gathering weekend and making a tour out of it because I know nothing about Victoria and after reading a few blogs on Motorcycle and Bicycle forums, Victoria has me itching to explore.
Not only that, but I've never taken the trail over the Snowy Mtns so I'm interested to include the Barry Way through Jindabyne on my way down to Vic. Going by average temps in Mid April to May, the days look pleasant at between 17-21C while the overnights a nice cool 3-6C bbrrrr
I don't know if I'll be camping or not yet, I've got the gear but depends on how this old body is up to it.
Anyway, heading down to Bairnsdale, I see no other way to avoid Melbourne unless you head back up and approach Wangaratta from the East....so I'm thinking to persevere with Melbourne and head out to the GOR to Warnambool, then to Halls Gap which is basically straight up.
Thinking of getting there by say Friday Lunch time perhaps then leave on the following Sunday or Monday...pending how I like the area.
Then I'd like to have a good look through Ballarat and maybe chase up a BBQ forum friend who's 12 yr old Daughter recently had a swimming accident and is presently near a Quadraplegic.
I'd like to see Bendigo as well, then head up towards Wagga Wagga, another place I've never been and would like to see before heading back to Sydney.
This is a quick map I've made up, about 2,500kms in 2 weeks...not many really...just cruisy with plenty of time to look at places and things instead of just being a blurr.

If Anyone else have other suggestions, I'm happy to listen to them, if anyone else has 2 weeks up their sleeve, love to have company too, it's be great to share a trip like this, I know some of you have already done similar.....I've just not had an opportunity to see the Country much more South than Canberra.
Anyway, early days yet...thinking of staying in Pubs but still open to the camping aspect too.
Cheers
