Astro and VChops have asked me to put up and organise Sussex Inlet as a place for next years 10th gathering, there are some great roads to ride tarmac and dirt. I'm prepared to organize the gathering along with help from Astro and Vchops. :crying2:
Let us know your thoughts

All other suggestions welcome. :grin2:

Sounds like a good idea.

Hopefully I will have my licence reinstated by then..

Might even bring the sidecar and see if I can entice Belinda to come along, we love the Huskisson-Jervis Bay area.. the Annual Gathering tied in to a week down there may be something she might just go for. :wink2:

Good onya for putting your hand up to organise the anniversary gathering Brett, we haven't had a gathering down that way yet, so I'll go along with it. May I suggest a bit earlier in the year though.

Well I'm not drinking port again, I've forgotten all about this >:)

My suggestion would be to wait a while to see if anyone else wants to organise next years gathering.
Sussex Inlet would be a great place for it and I'm willing to help out anyone.

Yeah, great to see Brett. A small town down that way would be awesome. As Ken says; pub, fuel, cafe, motel, C/Park and not much more is ideal....lots of options in that area I would say.

PS: Not from down that way, but if it was in the Mts of NSW/VIC I have heard that Delegate is a great spot. Shares our spending dollars into the country side also....just an idea. But coastal would be pretty awesome too, ie Sussex.

Hi Brett

Sussex Inlet is nice, Count me in, a small town, a pub and a club, and Caravan parks.
Plus nice beaches and good riding close by, ticks all the boxes for me.
Accommodation during School could be a problem though.

Best Regards Bruce (Strom)

Thats why I advised dates, so that those ultimately deciding the gathering dates can stay away from it, prices go up, plus cos everyone on hols with kids, availability is an issue, I think we should avoid it like the plague.

but thats just my 10c......:smile2:

others may have other reasons....

I'm at Bermagui at the moment (thawing out after Dead Horse Pass at DreadBO.) Sussex has 1 pub and 2 clubs and it is not cheap even in off season, that has something to do with having you by the short and curly's. However it it a whole lot warmer than I have been experiencing. Lets flick it around and do some more research before it's definite.

Personally I would like to keep my money country. I also believe the country folk are more genuine and the atmosphere etc is better than a coastal touristy location.

Each to there own, I am sure you will sort it. You wont be able to please everyone.

Anyhow now the work and frustration begins again for another year.

I agree that a vote is needed to determine where the Gathering is held, but if you nominate a location you need to be prepared to assist with the organisation at the location you nominate.

To use a Seinfeld analogy "anyone can take a reservation, it's holding the reservation that's important" ie anyone can nominate a location, it's the willingness to organise the event that's important.

Let the nominations and the voting begin.

Bombala is a nice country town not that far from Sussex Inlet, the caravan park is very nice there, i have stayed there before, and it gives us access to many different roads in, out and the area, as a suggestion?

Town info:

Bombala is a town in the Monaro region of south-eastern New South Wales, Australia, in Bombala Council. It is approximately 485 kilometres south of the state capital, Sydney, and 80 kilometres south of the town of Cooma. The name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning "Meeting of the waters".

Just noting a few of the suggestions, I think that Sussex Inlet, while nice, kinda goes away from the whole idea of these gatherings, like some others, I prefer Country and much smaller places that kind of mean something...I like the Bombala region that sounds interesting, also like the suggestion by Sharon of Halls Gap in the Grampians Vic.
As this will be the 10th gathering, I think there needs to be a good amount of input for this one, we don't need to decide right now.....as Nugget suggested, if theres a good number of places.....there can be a poll to decide.

Cheers

+1, I doubt Sussex Inlet needs our $$ ,though a seaside location would be a plush treat for the 10th anniversary (for those that partake of coastal aquatic activities)
Bombala is near Delegate ;) , Bombala is already established as a M/C friendly location and has a decent M/C show there every year.
We have been to both Bombala and Delegate before, though TBH I cant recall much about delegate..it was the Bonag HWY we were hanging for!
Bombala area or a bit further North ;) say around Goulburn Crookwell area? Gunning has a great pub and motel out the back!
Telegraph Hotel Gunning:||:|Telegraph Hotel Gunning
motel: WELCOME TO MOTEL GUNNING ? Motel Gunning
We have stayed at the motel and eaten at the pub and can recommend both ;)

I,ve only suggested this area as it is more "Midway" between Melbourne and Brisbane.. Gunning has a free camping area with hot showers!

I am riding down to Parkes for the IBA muster on the second of July, i am happy to take a day or two and do a reccy down to Bombala area and north if people would like me to :) as there are some great areas like Braidwood, Cooma, Jindabyne maybe.

Am happy to help give me a bell on 0488 385 858

Just had a quick look on the map, Braidwood is NSW's first historic town (https://goo.gl/maps/sFtDFNe1bjG2)

Budawong National Park is right next door, it is located near the headwaters of the Shoalhaven River.

They have their own website promoting themselves and the local businesses http://www.braidwoodnsw.com/

Looks to have a good range of accommodation between the showgrounds tourist park to hotel/motel and BnB.

It's good of you for doing a "reconnaissance mission" for us Graham, you will be going thru some good V-Strom country.
If anyone thinks Sussex is touristy and expensive, you'll shit yourself with Braidwood. Although it's a nice enough place, it's also full of Canberrians on their way to the coast.
