Hi Everyone,

I am so pleased to announce the Patron of my ride around Australia for White Ribbon is Orianthi. Who is Orianthi some more senior members might say !!!! Ori is an International Superstar. She was the lead guitarist for Michael Jackson before he passed away. She is the lead for Alice Cooper and has played concerts with Prince, Carlos Santana, ZZ Top.
Lucky for me that I work with her Mum and she made the introduction and of course my ride. Ori will be coming back to her home town of Adelaide on December 21 for one concert. She is going to wear the White Ribbon in memory of my daughter Tash and other victims of DV.
Looking forward to meeting and hanging out with her for a while.
Ofcourse her profile is important but more so is that she is in the top handful of guitarists in the world and to do so in a male dominated field of musicians is a great feet.
She agree to be my patron as long as she did not have to get on the back of the V-Strom.
Hopefully will have some piccies next month.

Youtube her Voodoo child clip. Amazing.

Hi Guys,

Had a few requests re posting route from my Solo Riding Free of DV ride around Australia in July. I hope attachment will show the basic route I am taking.
Hoping to do some public speaking about the loss of our daughter to DV. I think I am as prepared as I can be. If something has not got more than one purpose then it ain't going.
Fortunate enough to be invited to fly to Canberra to deliver my speech in May before I take off.
Getting plenty of dirt road hours up on the 650XT. Fitted Givi Airflow a couple of weeks back and what a difference it makes.
Read more about my ride at www.mycause.com.au search box Ivan Phillips

Cheers

Thanks Parso, it is greatly appreciated. I am so fortunate to have Orianthi as The Patron For the Ride (if you have not heard of her then take the time to Google her name), she was the lead guitarist for Michael Jackson. Adelaide born and hence the connection to my ride.
This is my second Lap of Australia. The first was bitumen all the way so this one will be very different including parts of the Savannah Way, Gibb River Road and the Rio Tinto Railway Line to Tom Price.

Cheers

Amazing ride and for a great cause. Your special girl would be very proud of you I am sure.

Apparently Orianthi was the only female musician to work for MJ? Pretty special lady.

I look forward to following that ride. Hopefully we can arrange something to meet up and donate on the way around.

Thanks for the kind words Mustang. Yes I am sure Tash would be looking down and wishing she was on the back seat but a photo on the handlebars will have to do.
Yes got to meet and spend some time with Orianthi when she came home for xmas. She did a one off concert in Adelaide and she and the whole band wore White Ribbon Tattoos in memory of Tash. How special is that. She is making a Youtube clip for my ride shortly so I will post it on the Facebook page....Riding Free of DV which talks about my ride and some piccies.
Thanks everyone for the support and part sponsorship from Andy Strapz.

Cheers

Riding Free of DV

Hi Ivan,
Sounds like a great ride for a great cause. Are you going to post updates on your way round ? Would be very interested to hear your thoughts and comments on the trip as it unfolds.
Particularly interested as I am undertaking a surprisingly similar trip/route in August ( except I depart from Coffs Harbour ) How have you planned your route ? Are you sticking to sealed roads or getting a bit dirty. I am finding it a little difficult to plan a route avoiding major roads where possible without taking on anything too difficult. I will also be on my own.
So if you have a planned itinerary would appreciate your advice.

2016 bmw gs carbon fibre helmet Donated

Hello Everyone,

As part of my "Riding Free of DV" Charity ride around Australia on my XT, I have been fortunate enough to have the just released new BMW GS Adventure Style Helmet donated by BMW Australia.
This Helmet is brand new and only arrived in the box today. Made of Carbon Fibre and worn by Simon Pavey and Son in the Dakar (not this one haha).
Size 56 - 57 and tri coloured. Motorrad have them for sale at $999.
Donation price $550 for a great cause.

Proceeds from the sale of this helmet will be used to help the White Ribbon Cause against Domestic Violence and the "Riding Free of DV" campaign.
I will be in Quorn but do not have enough room to carry it up and back unless someone wants to buy it definitely.
Ivan.
PM me for photos

Hi p38arover,

Thanks for your understanding on this issue. This is the whole purpose of this National Ride on a National Issue. 7 weeks till take off. Wish it was tomorrow.
Bitterly disappointed about not making Quorn but I still work full time and thought I was free to go until Canberra beckoned.

Cheers
