Don't say you "laid the bike down." That's the sort of thing cruiser riders say when they crash (typically lowsiding due to only using the rear brake) to make it sound as if it was an actual decision on their part (typically based on their perception that somehow they and their bike will stop faster sliding across the pavement on their sides, than upright and on the brakes). You crashed, or "wiped out", or "lowsided".

I really hate the term "laid it down". While there are maybe a few situations where "laying it down" might be sensible and useful, it's mostly only done conciously and on purpose by stunt men for TV and movies. Most of the guys who "laid it down" probably couldn't do it under control and on purpose.
