I have no intentions on being a pure 'roadie'. IronButt was just something I wanted to try.

So just do it. Given your numbers, you can surely finish the SS1000.
Your average speed was 51.5 MPH (=840 miles / ~16.3 hours)
Mine was 1090 miles / 19.5 hours = 55.8 MPH

It is safe to say that you would need about 3.5 more hours to complete the ride (160 miles left over 51.5 MPH). Bear in mind that it is not possible to do exactly 1000 miles, and that Suzuki's odometer counts more miles then in reality.

To get to BB 1500 Gold, I think a realistic minimum of 70 MPH is needed (which takes into account stops/fuel), since 1500 / 24 = 62.5 MPH, which is the bare theoretical minimum (nobody can ride 24 hours straight without refueling and resting)

Sorry about the math, but that is how my mind worked yesterday all day long. I kept calculated when I will arrive home based on my average MPH ..
The reason I don't do it, is because I know that I can.

For whatever reason, I am just not drawn to riding a 1,000 miles, in a day, to say that I rode a 1,000 miles in a day. I know that I can, so I don't.

However, if I HAD to ride a 1,000 miles in a day, (let's say a family emergency, or something like that), then I would do it. And, I wouldn't care about documentation.

When I pull into to a gas station, I don't get off of my bike. I stay straddled on it, and I do my best "Pit Stop" fuel up that I can do. I do not eat, or drink much during the day. I travel light.

At the end of the the day, you best have a "horse" waiting for me; cooked medium rare!

Yesterday's challenge was to ride from Whitehorse Gear, up into Québec, then back home without looking at a map. I don't use a GPS anymore. The ride from Mt. Megantic to my home I can do blindfolded. My only question was the dirt roads just past Dixville Notch, (The Diamond Pond Rd, Harvey Swell Road, Bear Rock Rd, and North Hill Rd). I have not ridden them since 2010. It turns out, I have them memorized too!

I am working on the video from yesterday's ride right now.

(I had a kick butt flying lesson this afternoon too! Near perfect landings every time. And, two power off landings as well.)
