Default Why traction control?

I moved from a DL1000K3 to an S10. The traction control keeps the back end of the bike from stepping out when traction fails. This can happen from scree on the road (chip seal stones, leaves, etc.) The VStroms aren't overly sensitive to this because of their relatively long wheel base.

I tested the S10's TCS at 10mph on a bed of rotten, damp leaves, on a right hand, fairly steep up hill turn onto a tarmac sideroad at full throttle. No drama! Went up the hill with a very brief wheel slip at the start. Any other cycle I have owned would have low sided. It helps to keep you from making mistakes when you are tired, cold, or distracted.
